"Chairwoman of the Homeland Security Committee" (R) endorses Lieberman
Sen. Joseph Lieberman's bid for re-election as an independent has received a solid endorsement from the chairwoman of the Homeland Security Committee.

Republican Sen. Susan Collins said she fully supports Lieberman, ranking Democrat on her committee. He is running as an independent after losing his Connecticut primary to political newcomer Ned Lamont.

Lamont managed to defeat Lieberman in an election that was viewed by many as a referendum on Iraq and President George W. Bush's handling of the war.

Collins said she doesn't normally cross party lines for endorsements. (Note: she didn't this time either.) But she said Lieberman has been an important partner on homeland security measures. She called him "an important voice of moderation and experience in the Senate."

1. So yet another Republican endorses Lieberman
I think they must want their candidate to drop out so that he will get all the GOP votes. Lieberman should be repudiating this support if he is truly at heart, as he says, a Democrat.

2. That's Excellent News!
IMO, the more the Republicans support Joe Lieberman, the more that the TRUE Democrats in Connecticut will discern the truth, i.e., Joe Lieberman's views are much more in line with The Republican Party.

This is so asinine in a way. We must ask ourselves, "How often do you hear die hard Republicans recommend that people cross parties to vote for "An Independent" over Their Own Republican Candidate? One aspect about the RNC is that they are "lock step" in their right wing beliefs.

The good citizens of Connecticut would be wise to consider that Joe Lieberman is right wing CONSERVATIVE regarding foreign affairs and that will NOT change. To me, warmongering trumps all other socially responsible votes.

IMO Ned Lamont is the true and sane MODERATE selection for both parties who do NOT drink the RNC "Crusades R Us in the Middle East" koolaid. ;) :hi:
