The suspect was arrested in Bangkok, Thailand Wednesday morning.

The suspect has confessed to certain elements of the crime that are unknown to the general public.

The suspect is expected to arrive back in the United States, possibly within the next two days, accompanied by an investigator from the Boulder DA's office.

The Boulder County DA's office has not confirmed the identity of the suspect, but is expected to have a press conference later today.

14. What, the media told us her parents did it? They wouldn't lie, would they?

16. Media? Lie? Never....
What a bloody nightmare this has been... my county has spent more money on this case alone than on several dozen rape cases that are still unsolved (though since they only happen during school terms, I would look closely at the University....) And the tabloids and the papers haven't helped at all.

31. There was still something they didn't report?
I mean, with the myriad books, movies, and constant coverage, there was something the public didn't know? Man. There's more to that story than I'd thought.

Of course, I'm in Denver and this should be a big local story...

3. i've always hoped this murder would be solved
IF the parents weren't involved, i hate patsy had to die before she saw her daugher's killer brought to justice.

5. I agree -- I'm sure the stress of being suspected didn't help her
It'd be nice if John Ramsey could clear his name, too, once and for all.

9. The media hounded those two people unmercifully....
and the stress to Patsy Ramsey must have been unbearable, which didn't help her fight the cancer.

12. That was my thought
also. If this person is guilty I wish she had lived to see them caught..then again it might have been too hard to relive it all again.

If the Ramsey's weren't involved then they have always had the knowledge of their innocence....small comfort I know.

Shame on me, I have often wondered if it had been the brother.

Cheers

The parents almost bought a house next door to my cousin's home in a swanky neighborhood in Atlanta. My cousin was worried that the media would swarm the neighborhood.

18. I realize this could be a big story - but what I just don't get
is why suddenly there is non-stop, hour after hour coverage of this on stations like MSNBC and CNN. We don't even know if the arrest of a prime suspect has actually been made. All we have is this disgusting spectacle of non-stop masturbation on our TV screens by turgid media talking heads who are coming out of the woodwork. One 5 minute news story would cover this at this point. Instead, we get idiot after idiot speculating about what we know, which is nothing, going around-and-around, filling in time. Why does American media go berserk like this over a sensationalistic story, especially when we don't know anything yet, and overriding all other news in the world? Tabloid news has become mainstream in America.

They are "The Beast". Stop watching TV news. I didn't know they were doing this until you told me but of course I'm not surprised. Rent Network instead. :hi:

25. Not insensitive at all...this murder happened 10 years ago...
JonBenét Patricia Ramsey (August 6, 1990 – December 25, 1996) was a child beauty pageant queen who was found murdered in the basement of her parents' home in Boulder, Colorado, United States, eight hours after being reported missing. The case drew national attention when no suspect was charged and suspicions turned to possible family involvement. The tantalizing clues of the case have inspired numerous books and articles that attempt to solve the mystery.

28. I know Jessica Lunsford's name
I know Samantha Runnion's name. I know Dylan Groene's name. I know Nathaniel Bar-Jonah's name. The most heinous crime is the murder of a child and yes I include Iraqi and Lebanese children in that equation. If I'm supposed to care about those children, why am I not supposed to care about JonBenet?

32. Diamond and Tionda Bradley

My husband and I were just talking about them yesterday...they've been missing for 5 years and I still think about these children.

It's important to remember, at least to me it is.

Cheers

26. So does the family finaly get to take the media to the cleaners?
The police of that city and the news media pummeled that family as suspects. Even accusing the brother. It's nice to hear they can finally be vindicated of it.

30. Not quite yet. The arrest doesn't preclude involvement on the part
of the parents. I hope this case is finally solved and closed, though.

33. It's a school teacher
It's not the father and looks as if it has absolutely nothing to do with the parents. It was always a bit ridiculous to think devoted parents would knock their kid in the head and then try to cover it up with a staged sex act that including sticking a paint brush up her vagina.

Are any of those investigations still being pursued? Guess for some reason rich Mormon girls lives are just a little more equal.
