2. A stack of canned press releases, all sent out at the same time,
with nearly identical wording, all about progress in Iraq.

So what makes you say propaganda?

How'd you come across that?

3. I was just researching news from Iraq and this is what caught my eye

Any one of these "news releases" by themselves wouldn't draw any attention but the bunch of them all lumped together sure looks suspicious.

A low level staffer is being canned as we speak! What a rookie screw-up. A perfectly good "things are improving" initiative right into the crapper like that. . what a shame.

8. Well, the sources listed at the bottom of each article are interesting
Articles 1 and 3: Al-Sabah Al-Jadeed is an independent Iraqi daily. Originally called Al-Sabah, the paper was funded by the US until 2004 when the editor, Ismail Zair, told them to bugger off and founded Al-Sabah Al-Jadeed on his own. From an April 2005 blog report: "Mr. Ismail says advertising revenues for independent publications like his are low. As a result, many private media rely on support from wealthy businessmen, or they publish propaganda from foreign intelligence services in exchange for fees."

http://www.christianiraq.com/news/2005/04/26/iraqi-media-experience-freedom-growing-pains/

Take from that what you will.

Article 2: Al-Adala is an Iraqi paper funded by the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution (SCIRI).

Article 4: Addustour is an independent Jordanian paper.

All the articles are translated/edited by USAID (The US Agency for International Development). That may explain more than anything else. Maybe they selected these articles for translation because it's what they're about?

God I hate not trusting anything anymore.

9. It's like 'they' always say...

"You got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda." -- George W. Bush :patriot:
