Sen George (Macaca) Allen's SISTER: 'My Brother Is A Bully & A Bigot'
GOP Senator George Allen's Sister Documents Her Brother's Bully Tactics:
"He Saw Dentistry As A Perfect Profession - Getting Paid To Make People Suffer"...
Huffington Post | Posted August 16, 2006

Senator George Allen’s racial remark to a 20 year old Indian man last week, has re-highlighted accusations that the Senator is a bully and a bigot. Senator Allen’s sister, Jennifer Allen, documents many cases of her brother’s bullying in her book Fifth Quarter: The Scrimmage of a Football Coach's Daughter.

Read the excerpts below:

Explaining why she is scared of heights, Ms. Allen writes that “Ever since my brother George held me over the railing at Niagara Falls, I’ve had a fear of heights.” (Fifth Quarter: The Scrimmage of a Football Coach's Daughter, page 43)

Referring to George’s relationship with one of her boyfriends: “My brother George welcomed him by slamming a pool cue against his head.” (Fifth Quarter: The Scrimmage of a Football Coach's Daughter, page 178)

Referring to George’s early leadership skills, Jennifer wrote: “We all obeyed George. If we didn't, we knew he would kill us. Once, when Bruce refused to go to bed, George hurled him through a sliding glass door. Another time, when Gregory refused to go to bed, George tackled him and broke his collarbone. Another time, when I refused to go to bed, George dragged me up the stairs by my hair.” Fifth Quarter: The Scrimmage of a Football Coach's Daughter, page 22.

The press ought to take Allen to task for what he did to his sister, affecting her life for years.

The man's just perfect for congress. He does everything wrong, yet someone elected him. What I can't understand was how the Coach ever allowed him to live this long. If your sister doesn't have good things to write about you there has to be something wrong with this man's brain.

68. Actually, these are NOT symptoms of mental illness...
These are character and personality traits. George Allen has a history of malevolent, malicious, depraved, & vicious behavior. The only link between sadistic cruelty and mental illness is in "Dirty Harry" types of movies.

George Allen is an asshole without a conscience. I have known hundreds of people with mental illness through my work, and only a very few were like George Allen... which only demonstrates that vicious assholes are susceptible to mental illness, just like the rest of us. The vast majority of people with mental illness are very good and decent people.

And 5 and 7 year old too. Too many parents just tuning their kids out - so the kids rarely speak in less than a scream, and find that being bad is the quickest, if not the only way, to get parental attention. Kids are being raised with this sense of entitlement to be constantly entertained and catered to. I often want to go up to tables in restaurants with 1 or 2 adults and 1 or more screaming, misbehaving kids and ask, "Who's the adult here?"

whereas the ability to pretend to be normal (socially adjusted) is a primary characteristic of a sociopath. This goes hand in hand with continuous lying and deceiving.

43. The law states
any acts of violence or discrimination against any Americans be condemned.

Merriam-Webster dictionary: (definition 3a) reads: the act, practice or instance of discriminating categorically rather than individually. (b) reads: predjudiced or predjudial outlook, action or treatment<racial discrimination. For further definition of the term see link.

http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/discriminating

It was clear, though he has since apologized that this was a racial instance of predjudicism.

67. right, but condemning does not equal criminalizing
I don't disagree that it's discrimination, just that the law doesn't make discrimination illegal. In this case the condemnation is an expression of disapproval, since the legislation neither imposes or suggests any penalty for such discrimination.

People can debate what the hell Allen meant by "macaca", but I thought his "Welcome to America" comment was most telling. Just because the guy didn't fit Allen's profile for a good American, he must be a foreigner. Definitively racist. The macaca statement just expands the degree.

"Appalling, but very Republican", May 26, 2006

Sounds like Ms. Allen experienced a typical Republican upbringing - a way of raising children that has created self-centered, violent politicians and which has brought our beloved country to this constitutional crisis.

30. Wish I could claim credit
but no, I didn't write any of these reviews. That one was my favorite, too.

Reading about this book I was reminded of The Great Santini by Pat Conroy. It must be harrowing to grow up in a household with so much coldness, humiliation, and violence. I really feel sorry for people who have this kind of family life--even for the parents and the mean siblings, but especially for the ones who bear the brunt of the abuse, as Jennifer Allen did.

Another fascinating/horrifying story of a child surviving emotional abuse is Thin Ice by Bruce McCall, the brilliant New Yorker artist and writer.

33. Dad rarely home. On the road.
In the book the sister, the only girl by the way, talks about a woman who used to show up at the stadium back entrance after each Rams home game with a plate of homemade brownies for the team. One day after a loss she offered a brownie to Coach Allen and he wouldn't take it. Said he didn't deserve it because the team lost. This was a guy who lived and breathed football and who believed winning was "the only thing." He had no time for his family.

Mom had her hands full raising 4 kids by herself. If you think George was bad growing up, you should have seen his brother Greg - huge troublemaker from the get-go.

37. He may have learned his aggression from his father
the idea that "stern disciplinarians" don't raise violent abusive kids is at the very least unproven.

But I still lean to the theory that George was probably born with a sadistic streak, taking pleasure in the pain and humiliation of others. This tendency could also be evident in the father and might have something to do with his success as a football coach.

out that he had a sadistic streak as a kid, and it appears he may not have outgrown it.

I was hell on wheels when I was a kid. My fighting was so bad that I got paddled everyday in the sixth grade. I have no memory of the sixth grade. I learned of those days from others. I was not a bully, infact I targeted bullies.

One day the fighting stopped. I just dropped the anger.

Heck, if we want to use this standard, I guess we can say that George Soros is a Nazi and Senator Byrd is a Grand Kleagle of the KKK.

As I stated CLEARLY I'm not interested in calling people psychotic for things they may have done while growing up as a child and using it politically.

You can look into anyones childhood and come up with any number of things to lambast them about and many far worse than the accusations I've seen here. The only reason its being done is because you disagree with him politically.

If you want to lambast him, use the Macaca statement. That is actually valid.

If I knew a person was cruel like that in their youth, I would not vote for them, no matter what political ideals they possess today. Not unless they publicly confessed - as Senator Byrd did - and worked to amend their crimes.

That was his way of apologizing and he never picked on me again.

I am sorry I sidetracked you.

Many people outgrow the crimes of their youth. On the other hand, some people instead, merely conceal their inner asshole so they can participate in society. Sadly, they never stop being the bastard they were when they were young. They just hide it until pushed or until they are in settings where the behavior is accepted. Allen apparently felt comfortable enough to look over a sea of white faces and humiliate the brown fellow.

I don't know the man but from all I've read, he doesn't appear to have changed much since he was a hair-pulling, brother-throwing boy.

126. Wait a minute
I agree that many people may have been subject to cruelty from their older brothers (or sisters) while growing up. Usually, however, such incidents take place far from the reach of parental supervision. The parent only finds out about it when the abused younger sibling comes home crying (or is taken to the hospital).

I visited Niagara Falls as a child. I was with my aunt and uncle and my four cousins. They shared the usual childhood rivalries.

But if ANY member of our happy little party had HELD A SMALLER CHILD OVER THE FRIKKIN FALLS, I assure you, our next stop would have been a psychiatric hospital, where the perpetrator would have been checked in for emergency treatment.

Or are we assuming that the Allen children went to see Niagara Falls without any adults along in the party?

And if the sister made up the Niagara Falls story, why was no retraction demanded, and why would she hold so much venom for her brother after all those years? (We can all point to something rotten our siblings did to us, but most of us can counterbalance it with nice things they did. Why were the Allen children apparently such mortal enemies, and why would they be that even in adulthood?)

72. Some of us are a little more familiar with the beast within.
Anger and hatred are very integral parts of one's personality. They never go away, they can only be controlled and held back. One day at a time. And some people are naturally endowed with an abundance of anger. I think Allen fits this profile. Rage seeks outlets, and it will have them. Maybe he supplanted his needs for physical dominance and violence with racial hatreds and verbal assaults. Maybe he hasn't. Maybe he struck a balance between the two.

Or perhaps he has put it behind him and he is somehow exempt from the same psychological rules that govern the rest of the human race.

But the main point of the article here is that his actions and his rage permanently divided him and his sister. Perhaps she is just a very unforgiving person, or perhaps his rage was such that it is truly unforgivable.

Me and my brother beat the tar out of each other when we were little. But never to the point where we never forgave each other and went so far as to try and sabotage the other's professional career. The ties of family are strong. Very strong. They are not broken idly.

I will grant that this is an unfair line of attack if one believes that people can truly change, and that this man has changed and has brought his rage under control.

Some of us however do not believe people can change. The wrappings may change, but the contents remain the same. A person may learn occasionally, but the core is and will be as it always has. If your view of human nature is a little more pessimistic, and a little more realistic, then this line of attack is fair game.

But when people started pushing me because I did not want to fight, I had to make a choice. I ended up having to cross the line & had nearly a dozen fights through my youth. It's empowering when you stand up to someone knowing they are just bluffing, & I knew what to do if they weren't. I've learned to make people back-down instead of fighting or me having to back down. I agree with you - pacifism is NOT good for the ego & makes one susceptible to being hurt by others.

81. Allen & Wadhams: Bully, Bully
The offensive remarks made by Senator George Allen have all the makings of a Dick Wadhams campaign. Wadhams cut his political teeth in Colorado and has been seen as the person behind the rise of Senator Wayne Allard, a Colorado veterinarian. Wadhams went on to orchestrate the campaign against Tom Daschle in South Dakota and is now leading Allen's reelection effort.

Dick Wadhams is a man many have called Karl Rove's protégé. During Wadhams work in Colorado for Senator Wayne Allard's 2002 reelection, he gave one of the most acerbic victory speeches I have ever witnessed. While gloating at the defeat of Ted Strickland, his comments were vile and hateful. The man is Karl Rove absent a scintilla of decorum and decency...if you can imagine that! It appears that George Allen believes that two bullies are better than one.

83. Standard
I see this behavior in men on both sides of the political aisle. I am from Georgia where most folks are Democrat...even though many act like republicans.

Anytime you have someone like this (prestige, elite childhood, big and aggressive) you will have behavior like Allen. I knew he was sort of a jerk for many years, but I had no idea he was this bad. I will almost always trust the word of a sibling - especially when it does not benefit them.

This guy is obviously an arrogant, abusive bully. However, I cannot drop this image on all repubs since all the bullies I knew growing up (and they usually had a bully father) were from democratic backgrounds.

Hopefully, this will be his albatross. We do not need another bully fratboy in power.

George Allen is a bully plain and simple. One has to merely look at his record as Governor of Virginia to see that. I have been screaming from the roof tops about this guy for years and it takes this incident to make people realize just how dangerous he is. He reminds me of Martin Sheens character in the "Dead Zone" and quite frankly that frightens me. He is an overgrown jock who got his way because of his name. He had a reputation as a womanizer when he was in the Virginia House of Delegates and I am sure he still looks at himself as a stud. He is very dangerous and if we aren't careful he could very well be the next republican candidate for president. He is a political opportunist and he will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. As a life long Virginian I want him gone as quickly as possible.

print in The New Republic in April. Allen admitted the graffiti, but denied it was racist. However, 5 classmates (other than me) and a former school administrator corroborated that it was, indeed, racist. The author of the story, Ryan Lizza, carefully researched it, quoted classmates by name, and revealed Allen's whole sordid history of love for the Confederacy.

wreck (actually he'll be fully symptomatic) by that time. "Dude Ranch" George is the nick name now.

Maybe

DOWN WITH TYRANNY

WEBB LETS GEORGE FELIX ALLEN KNOW THAT HIS ROLE IN
VA SENATE RACE IS TO BE A PUNCHING BAG AND LAUGHING STOCK

One of Webb's senior aides tweaked Allen by continually using his much-hated middle name (which kids in elementary school used to call him when they would beat him up everyday, which is what made him turn to right-wing notions and, eventually, the Republican Party), "While Jim Webb and others of George Felix Allen Jr.'s generation were fighting for our freedoms and for our symbols of freedom in Vietnam, George Felix Allen Jr. was playing cowboy at a dude ranch in Nevada."

Referring to Allen's laughable press release as "weak-kneed attacks by cowards," Webb's aide reminded Felix that "people who live in glass dude ranches should not question the patriotism of real soldiers who fought and bled for this country on a real battlefield."

Wow! I bet Allen, who is best known for dealing with his profound feelings of inadequacy by beating up and torturing his sister-- who wrote a book about what a pathetic psychopath he is-- wishes he was never born. (You hadn't heard about the Virginia Senator who would be president who was already showing signs of psychopathic sadism when he was just a monstrous little punk? Perhaps you need to read his younger sister's book, FIFTH QUARTER: THE SCRIMMAGE OF A FOOTBALL COACH'S DAUGHTER. In it George Felix's younger sister Jennifer, exposes him as a sadist who routinely attacked his younger siblings, once dangling her over Niagara Falls by the feet, beating her boyfriend over the head with a pool cue, throwing their younger brother Brice through a glass door, dragging the children around the house by their hair, etc. "George hoped someday to become a dentist," she wrote. "George said he saw dentistry as a perfect profession-- getting paid to make people suffer."

Webb Campaign Assails Allen Camp for Insensitivity on New Orleans; Attack on
Military Values

http://www.webbforsenate.com/press/release.php?id=60

Arlington, VA—The U.S. Senate campaign of Jim Webb today condemned comments made by Dick Wadhams, campaign manager to Sen. George Felix Allen Jr. for their insensitivity to victims in New Orleans and for Wadhams’ backhanded slap at military values in attacking Webb’s role in the movie “Rules of Engagement.”

On Thursday, after Gov. Mark Warner and Webb remarked to reporters that the devastation in New Orleans was inexcusable ten months after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city, Wadhams issued a statement mocking Webb for standing up for the city.

“We want to congratulate Hollywood movie producer James H. Webb Jr. for finally taking a stand on the issue. We now know that he is opposed to the devastation in New Orleans,” Wadhams said.

Wadhams, of course, is wrong once again. In April of this year, after visiting New Orleans, Webb more than took a stand, he called for full funding of a program to rebuild New Orleans’ levees to tighter federal standards – at a cost of $6 billion more than the Bush Administration and George Felix Allen Jr. wanted to spend.

At the time, Webb said, “Six billion dollars is about what we’re paying every month in an unnecessary war in Iraq. For that amount, we can build the kind of levee system that should have been in place before Katrina, if national leaders had given America’s infrastructure needs their proper priorities. Without a levee system that meets the standards now being discussed, the people of New Orleans will remain hostages to slipshod planning.”

By contrast, Allen opposed several funding measures for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The people of New Orleans still suffer and Dick Wadhams makes light of it.

“The insensitivity of George Felix Allen Jr.’s campaign toward the 800,000 victims in New Orleans is startling. Ten months after the hurricane, tens of thousands are still displaced and virtually nothing is being rebuilt. But once again, in an attempt for political gain, the Allen camp through Wadhams mocks Jim Webb’s legitimate concerns for the people there,” Webb spokesperson Steve Jarding said, “Why would Dick Wadhams minimize the suffering of the people of New Orleans?”

Jarding also took issue with Wadhams’ attempt to attack Webb as a “Hollywood movie producer” for Webb’s role in the film “Rules of Engagement.”

“What part of ‘Rules of Engagement’ did George Felix Allen Jr. and his insensitive mouthpiece Dick Wadhams not respect – military service? Patriotism? Honor? Valor? We know that George Felix Allen Jr. spent much of the Vietnam War years on a dude ranch in Nevada and chose not to serve, but his continued silence as his key staff dismiss military personnel and their patriotism is beginning to shine a very unfavorable light on Senator Dude Ranch,” Jarding said.

“Before Dick Wadhams belittles Jim Webb’s writings on Vietnam and thus Webb’s service in the military, he should read some of Webb’s writings about the war including Webb’s book, “Fields of Fire,” which is considered the classic novel of the Vietnam War. Perhaps then he would not be so quick to make light of the contributions these writings have done for the hundreds of thousands of men and women who did serve,” Jarding said.

Wadhams’ inaccurate representation of Jim Webb’s Hurricane Katrina relief position represents Wadhams’ third mistake in a week. First, he attempted to discredit a highly respected pollster who released a poll showing George Felix Allen Jr. in trouble. Then he launched a cowardly attack on Jim Webb’s patriotism, a highly decorated Marine and a former Secretary of the Navy.

112. In other words he meets the MAIN criteria for being a Republican- crazy as
a bat. Re: Mann Coulter, Savage, etc. The Republicans not only allow - but encourage - obviously deranged people to be their spokesmen. Says everything about them.
