I wanted to be the 500th...but I couldn't wait you out. I encountered DU one year ago this week, right in the thick of some scandal or other and right before hurricane Katrina. Fundraising then too, and I donated that very night, so I could see the boxing glove finally collide with W. I kept checking in to witness the punch and from then on I was hooked.
I couldn't believe what I'd been missing by not tying in to such a networkk before---in terms of news, politics, passionate discussions, and quirky postings. You have moved me, and I'd like to say Happy Anniversary to all of you.

many of us here, this is my refuge, my sanity in an increasingly insane world. I am thankful for all the wonderful DU admins, mods and members, who remind me daily that the entire world is not made up of brain-dead cretins and pond scum, but wonderful, caring, bright, witty, warm people.
