is shocked that people in Iraq are not happy w/ America and this is what Ocelot posted.

I think this article answers that question pretty well. "The president expressed frustration that Iraqis had not come to appreciate the sacrifices the United States had made in Iraq, and was puzzled as to how a recent anti-American rally in support of Hezbollah in Baghdad could draw such a large crowd."

Duh.

Well, for starters, if you invade a country that never threatened your country and kill about a hundred thousand civilians, and hang around for four years and stir up a civil war and wreck the infrastructure to the point where there's hardly any electricity or running water or functioning hospitals and people can't even leave their homes for fear of getting shot by somebody and their kids can't go to school, and hardly anybody has a job, and there's no end in sight, ya think some people might cop an attitude? Ya think??

And I can't help (here in this thread, either) wondering how many Iraqis whose lives and whose country have been turned upside down and completely trashed secretly (or maybe overtly) wish they had Saddam back, running things again. How much more horror, death, torture, shame, humiliation, theft, carnage, mayhem, and misery is there - ACROSS THE BOARD, afflicting EVERYONE over there now, as opposed to a small group of anti-Saddam people? Yes, those folks did go through hell. But to address their problem by completely trashing an ENTIRE country, stem-to-stern, and EVERYONE in it - where's the "return on investment" there? Somebody explain to me how they're all better off over there now, please?

A lot of Iraqis have been dying lately but most of the killers appear to have been wearing uniforms of one kind or another and seem to have no problem traveling around Baghdad during curfews and getting through US check points. Thats not civil war. That is death squads in action.
