So, here's why you should donate to the DU
When our last verbal nukes are fired, and the last biting sarcasm from the last carrier have taken off and zinged past, falling useless to the ground, and the last submarine of double bottomed irony sink like a rock, and our forum text is covered with the criss-cross of tank tracks, mud-stained boots and poisonous comments alike - when we have gone past that level, and flame thrower, bayonet, club and fists have left us both lying in a dust cloud of unfinished argument, with our appearance like the last scenes of Die Hard; all blood stained t-shirts and blown up sentence buildings - I will be able to spit out a couple of teeth, rinse my voice and weakly, but from a moral high ground, proclaim: - Hah! .... you didn't... *thud*

And that marks the bedtime for me, lol :D

1. abstract inspiration
That in this tempestuous storm we meet as paragraphs on a computer,
when in life we might have been lovers, your sensitive skin,
and for all the boldness in words, ever so private intimacies,
allocated some bytes in the prayer of awakening, that
we all awaken now before its too late, and death takes the sacred gift.

2. Here's why I literally can't donate (this time)
Uninsured medical expenses for my 2 year old daughter who was hospitalized for 3 days 7 months ago and we're STILL paying for it.

Unreimbursed moving expenses for a cross-country move to take a new job after 8 months of searching in vain back home.

As soon as we get out of debt, i'm gettin' me a star. i promise.

7. I bought groceries today, didn't donate.
Tomorrow I pay some on my dental bill and still won't donate. The next day I will send money to MFS (Doctors without Borders) and still won't donate. Next week I need to pay for UPJr's dorm room for college and will not donate to DU then. I have donated in the past and will donate in the future, and though I love this place, this is not the time for me to donate. I am glad so many people can donate whenever they can. If anyone wishes to look down upon me for not donating now, well, so be it. Won't change my mind about those platypodes.

8. we all do what we can- when we can.
I also can't afford to donate right now. Between my medical bills, paying for the cats' needs, and paying the rent, there's not much left. I've donated in the past, and will again when I get a little more of a financial cushion.

We do what we can when we can. I like to see DU continuing and do donate when I can. I just don't want anyone to throw my not donating in my face please. Thank you again sweetheart, 1 notch closer to the pouter.

12. I will be donating! I will be donating! But I have to wait until
a check clears the bank. Don't put me on a guilt trip.

13. I can donate, and choose not to this time.
The little banners are a cute tactic to raise funds, but that's all they are. They don't confer any status to the holder.

In fact, I dislike them. Stars confer benefits, at the least; the red banners seem to simply be a way to mark out non-donors. I don't think that's right. But on my DU there wouldn't be stars - just benefits for donors - and this isn't my DU. So I'll shut my fat yap.
