Santorum Staffers Faked Signatures To Get Green Party Candidate On Ballot
GOP staffers faked signatures to get a Green Party Senate candidate on the ballot

Dems: Santorum Staffers Faked Signatures
By Paul Kiel - August 15, 2006, 2:21 PM
So it continues.

As part of their ongoing challenge of the signatures gathered for Green Senate candidate Carl Romanelli, the Pennsylvania Democrats are analyzing them for fraud. And William J. Ries, a forensic document examiner working for them, has found that a petition signed by John Michael Glick, a Santorum staffer (of duck costume fame), has four "questionable" signatures.

The signatures belong to family members of another fellow staffer, Julianne George, Santorum’s Deputy Director of Coalitions. You can see a side by side comparison of the signatures here.

“The writing expert’s findings raise serious questions, not only about the illegal financing of the petition drive paid for by Santorum backers but how he authorizes the use of campaign staff for apparent fraud," Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman T.J. Rooney said.

Democrats say that more than 69,000 of the approximately 100,000 signatures gathered by Santorum staffers and JSM, Inc., a private company hired by the Greens with Republican money, are fraudulent.

tossed Nader for bad signatures. It is a long and painstaking process to verify so many signatures. But they are responsible about it, and don't put up with crap.

3. Is a Democrat the Secretary of State in Penn.?
If so, he/she should scrutinize every single signature on those petitions. So much as an undotted "i" or an uncrossed "t" should be grounds for tossing the signature. Go over those forms with a fine tooth comb.

Why would anything be done? The only way anything might ever be done is if Dems take over entirely. But Dems being so forgiving and not wanting to look like it's payback time, probably nothing would happen anyhow.

And there's 51 other comments like those.

One would think that if there was anyone with half a brain there, they could perhaps delete some of this stuff? Hell, I run a blog and I've deleted a lot of this crap (I switched to mandatory signup because of this). And before Santorum's goons dumped a ton of money on Romanelli, they had all of about $16 in the coffers (not including Romanelli's $35 that he kicked in himself).

Can't the Greens see they're being played? Whored out? Or do they not care?

They better not apply for workmen's comp in Ohio. Our frigging Repos blew 300 mil on a hedge fund with a Pittsburgh Broker and there's little left.
This is another fraudulent move by pretty boy just like his phony place of residence. By the way, does he pay local and state Taxes to Pennsylvania or Virgina where his wife and kids live. I keep hoping that he and Delay both run someday in Virgina so we don't have a phone butt-hole claiming he's from the Pittsburgh area.

Edited on Tue Aug-15-06 03:52 PM by LaPera
And if Santorum is close...he'll have the benefit of the republican owned electronic voting machines...I don't know if there's a republican Secretary of State in PA...if there is, (because Sec of States count the votes in ALL states)) count on fraud and that's a huge plus for Santorum....

Just like Arnold down 34% approval month's ago and just like the idiots who said Arnold & Santorum and other republicans are "toast" and celebrating...the republicans always do this...say they are so far back in the polls and the Dem's think it'll be a cake walk...

With month's to go, there plenty of time to get ones numbers back up, unless they do some major fuck ups, even then, there's ways to get close..."It's not over till its over".

And then I hope there's massive coverage of the fraud/scandal on all the local stations here in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. That should be the final nail in (p)ricky's political career in PA.

BTW: If I would ever consider a Green candidate in the past for local office (or even a state office), I will now vow to NEVER consider anyone from that party after this BS.

She has been quick to criticize Casey for not campaigning vigorously enough! Since she hates Santorum, this would be a great story for her. I think the Pittsburgh stations would give it some coverage.... afterall, they did cover the story about the Capitol Police guarding his Penn Hills "home" from nosey neighbors!

BTW: I am very suspicious about the poll that has Romanelli at 5%. Who ever heard of this guy? No way he has 5%! Was that put out by Santorum's pollsters, I wonder?

Electronic voting machines are ripe for corruption. They are easily manipulated as they were in Ohio. I believe that the machines in Pa. are completely controlled by the re pubs, and if my suspicions are correct Casey doesn't have a chance, regardless of the popular vote outcome.

56. Its a Crime to falsify signatures
The person who circulates a nominating petition must make a notarized statement on the back of each form that they personally collected the signatures. If some of the signatures don't turn out to be registered voters, they simply can be deleted. However, if the signatures are falsified, that is a crime that should be prosecuted.
