10,000 bags misplaced at airports

Around 10,000 bags checked in by British Airways passengers have gone missing at airports since the UK security alert began, the airline says.

It said half of them are still piled up at airports waiting to be delivered back to their owners and it has issued an apology to passengers.

Other airlines have yet to announce whether they have suffered similarly.

BA is considering seeking compensation from airports operator BAA after being forced to cancel hundreds of flights...

2. At least the UK is trying to return them to the owners
Here in the US they're shipped off to the unclaimed baggage store for sale. Makin' money off of terra is hard work.

They've gone off to "The World'O'Socks". The three males in my household have 1/2 of at least thirty pairs there. If the luggage has gone there too, it'll never be seen again.

Edit for typo

6. Meanwhile....
all those folks who are without their undies, toothbrushes, and toothpaste because they were forced to check their carry on bags are washing the pair they were wearing every night and gargling with saltwater....oops....they had to check their emergency laundry detergent too....

(Don't laugh too hard, this actually happened to us in the late 80s in the Soviet Union and was the first thing we thought of when talk of banning carry on luggage started. Couldn't buy replacement anything back then, and once you left the city of entry your luggage couldn't be forwarded to you in a new entry port. Took two cities to find undies to buy. The only thing that saved us for the week and a half until we were reunited with our luggage was the fully stocked personal hygiene kit we carried in our carry on luggage.)
