“As far as press, we're not getting it all. There's too much to get,” Merritt said.
Baghdad is very corrupt, he said. Explosives and gunfire were constant. Being in the middle of it all offered a better view of what was happening, Merritt noted.
Whether American or Iraqi, people are injured and crying in pain, he said. Television can't capture the real world.
The Iraqi families just want their children to go to school and their spouses to go to work like everyone else, Merritt said. They fear for their lives from terrorists driven by power and money.
