Bush visit to PA for Swann threatens Mennonite book-sale fundraiser!!!

(Dumbya is visiting Lancaster County, PA, on Wednesday to raise money for Lynn Swann for Gov. -- private fundraiser at $10,000 a couple. His helicopter will land at the local Mennonite High School, next to the Mennonite Historical Society which is holding its used book sale that it depends on as a fundraiser. Bush will be f**cking up this book sale by landing there -- the historical society expects to lose thousands of dollars because of Bush's visit.

From the Lancaster New Era story to be published this afternoon:

The president’s visit presents a major conflict for the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society, which was expecting up to 1,000 people to attend its used book sale Wednesday at its 2215 Millstream Road location.

Today, the U.S. Secret Service told Historical Society Director Beth Graybill the road must be closed from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

“We can’t cancel and we can’t change plans,” she said. “We support the need for security, but we’re looking at a major financial loss of $10,000 to $20,000.”

Graybill said afternoon book sale attendees can park at the Lancaster Mennonite High School and walk the quarter-mile to the sale.

And, hopefully, to see the protesters who will, no doubt, line the route to the fundraiser venue. This is a very RED area, but there are a lot of pissed-off BLUES around.

But, Mennonites being an Historic Peace Church, and not usually involved with politics at all, I suppose it's OK to fuck 'em.

Who's gonna show up for that kid of money? Sure won't be the Amish, so who else is around Lancaster with 10 grand to elect Swann and get a picture with the asshat-in-chief?

Lancaster County definitely has its share of McMansions. And lots of both old and new money.

Ironically, some of Lancaster County's big companies are run by Mennonite families -- they're winkingly called the Mennonite Mafia around here. I'm surprised someone hasn't changed that helicopter landing site already.
