35% TIME/ 36% CBS/ 37% Gallop - New Polls For Bush

35% TIME poll

A spate of good news at home and abroad has so far failed to boost how Americans feel about President Bush's job performance. Bush's approval rating slipped to 35% in a TIME poll taken this week, down from 37% in March (and 53% in early 2005). Only 33% of Americans in the survey said they approved of Bush's handling of the situation in Iraq, vs. 35% in March, and 47% in March 2005. His management of the U.S. economy lost supporters, too, as 36% approved, compared with 39% three months earlier. Bush's handling of the war on terror saw a slight gain in support, from 44% to 45%.

Bush Approval Doesn't Budge
A new CBS News poll shows President Bush's approval rating at 36%, unchanged from last month, despite news of a foiled terrorist plot last week.

37% GALLUP NEWS SERVICE

PRINCETON, NJ -- The latest Gallup Poll finds George W. Bush's presidential job approval rating at 37%, consistent with recent polling. His approval rating has bounced between 36% and 40% since early June, after hitting a personal low of 31% in May.

4. My thought exactly. What good news?
People seem to have totally forgotten when things were really good - like before December 2000.

You know- that whole British alleged terror plot the media's been crowing about for a week.

be in the 20s. If an illegal and disasterous foreign occupation, the gutting of the 4th Amendment, the outing of an undercover CIA agent and her network, and the war crimes committed by this THUG in office cannot bring his numbers below 33-38% (depending on the poll), NOTHING will.

Just my two cents. ;-)

edited for spelling.

20. That's amazing
That means 33% to 38% of Americans are complicit in the war crimes committed by this Regime. Invasion of a nation in the absence of being attacked, and in the absence of clear imminent threat, is a crime by Article 51 of the UN Charter, which was ratified by the U.S. and thus, by our Constitution, has the force of law. By this line of argument, George Bush is a war criminal. Every death in Iraq is a war crime. And every U.S. citizen that still approves of the job George Bush is doing is complicit in these crimes.

Can those millions fit in a court at The Hague? Maybe they can be tried a couple of hundred at a time?

We'll have to fit the 33% to 38% in American courts when it comes to the outting of Valarie Plame and other local crimes.

8. The public gets it -- Bush is the new "Baghdad Bob"!
Remember Baghdad Bob? He denied that there were any Americans in Baghdad even as the streets behind him were full of American soldiers. Well something occured to me last night: Bush is the new "Baghdad Bob" -- in total denial, all the time.

He said Monday that Hezbollah guerillas suffered a defeat at the hands of Israel in their month-long Mideast war. “There’s going to be a new power in the south of Lebanon,” Bush said. This was even as EVERYONE ELSE -- policy experts, military experts, journalists, even his neocon buddies Krauthammer and Kristol -- stated that Israel's tactics had not been successful and that Hezbollah's hand was now strengthened.
From "Mission Accomplished", to "We're fighting them over there so we don't have to face them here" (whoever 'they' are), to "Freedom is on the march", to "No one could have anticipated (fill in the blank with whatever obviously COULD have been anticipated)", the Boy King has zero credibility. All I can say is...as far as his approval rating goes, COME ON TWENTIES!

26. Bush actually said that Hezbollash suffered a major defeat
Yep! His statment on the subject was carried by AP yesterday.

Denial ain't just a river in Egypt, y'all!

PS: Saw Bill Kristol on "Faux News Sunday". He was actually forced to agree with Juan Williams, that the entire Israel vs. Hezbollah escapade had strengthened Hezbollah and weakened the cause of Lebanon's moderates. What a disaster for all concerned! Except in the twisted mind of Baghdad Bush.

13. I predict the teens...
....are just around the corner.

The man is in a downward spiral. Big time.

He replaced Andy Card with Josh Bolten--and Tony Lake has come on board. Despite these
personnel changes--and loads of other manufactured marketing stunts--his numbers aren't
moving. Even a foiled terrorist plot and a very visible role for Condi in the Israeli/Lebanon role couldn't budge the numbers.

It's similar to a crumbling company hiring new VP-level staff and sinking their efforts into a new PR campaign--and it not working.

He's hanging on by a thread.

I truly predict that Junior will descent into the teens by mid 2007.

In the meantime, let's all enjoy watching him drop like a hot rock--from from the mid-30's to the teens.

14. I'm surprised Bush isn't in the 20's at this point.
Even the number of core supporters who approve of Bush has begun to drop. Republicans running for re-election don't want to be near him, and he's ticked off the true conservatives as well as the more liberal Republicans as well. The Evangelicals are the only ones who still seem to show strong support for him.

I honestly think our right wing pollsters and press are giving him the benefit of the doubt, and not showing the true numbers. When they see that he is not going to bounce back up, the numbers will begin to slide down again as we head into Fall.

29. AP-IPSOS has him at 33%.
An Associated Press-Ipsos poll conducted this week found the president's approval rating has dropped to 33 percent, matching his low in May. His handling of nearly every issue, from the Iraq war to foreign policy, contributed to the president's decline around the nation, even in the Republican-friendly South.

31. EXACTLY. What 'spate of good news' has there been?
WI_DEM, you hit the nail on the head. There hasn't been a 'spate of good news' except for the one spinning around in Tony Snow's dreams.

After each of George W. Bush's "premature victory laps", there was supposed to be a big bounce. Well, like a basketball that bounces off the court, each bounce has been smaller and smaller until finally the trend flatlines and the ball just rolls to a stop.

CREDIT: Thanks to conservative columnist George Will for coining the phrase "premature victory laps" to refer to the constant stream of self-congratulatory blather coming from the Boy King. Even thoughtful people on the right are waking up to the fact that Shrub is somewhere between addled and delusional.
