think there was anything even close to "paranoid" about your OP. It merely stated that there are a group of people who are well organized in coordinating responses to discussions about the war in Lebanon. There is clearly a group that fits that description. In and of itself, that is not a bad thing. People on DU might actually learn from that model of coordinated media response.

Being organized is good. Understanding how to use the media -- including discussion forums on the internet -- is a strength. The group in question is using the basic model that Nixon White House advisor Patrick Buchanan developed. It works.

The only negative that comes to mind is when any group of people is organized in efforts to subvert discussion. On a forum like DU, this would be accomplished by creating distractions and flamefests.

We are at a point in our country when it actually serves every democrat's best interests to have open and frank discussions. Topics like the war in Lebanon, and the US policy in the Middle East, are worthy of people having enough respect for one another to put their cards on the table. From the way I read your OP, that is exactly what you were attempting to do. Thank you for that.

All I see here is people who want to support Israel being given access to a tool which will allow them to do so more effectively. Furthermore, it could also be downloaded by people on the other side of the issue who want to put forth their views in the same way. I don't see what the problem is here.

Whatever happened to free debate, between individual people? :shrug:

Besides, this removes a lot of credibility from other people wanting to broaden the topic by not taking a stand for or against Israeli politics, but post info critical/postitive towards both parties in the ME conflict. As usual, moderates are driven away and Israel are stuck with the die hards.
Finally, it will surely affect the debate itself, which will be automated and not progressive (as in: enlightened/informative).

I see only negative effects by such an initiative, escpecially when it's govt. sponsored.
