wrong addresses, wrong ages, misspellings, etc. So which is worse--that virtually anyone can get certain bits of information about us, or that the information they get is likely distorted?

10. I'll tell you what's worse...

...when someone (be it jealous ex-boyfriend, collection agency, credit card companies, police, anyone!) comes after you when they're really looking for someone else, but they're too dumb or bureaucratic to understand that they have the wrong information, and they're trying to put the screws on you for something someone else has done (or just may have done).

Basically, someone pays $20 to find information that's available in public record for free. Which is why it pulls up 20-year-old addresses.
