Holocaust cartoon exhibit kicks off in Tehran
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/14350765/?GT1=8404

TEHRAN, Iran - An exhibition of more than 200 cartoons about the Holocaust opened Monday as Iran's response to last year's Muslim outrage over a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad in a Danish newspaper.

The display, showing 204 entries from Iran and abroad, was strongly influenced by the views of Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who drew widespread condemnation last year for calling the Holocaust a "myth" and saying Israel should be destroyed.

One cartoon by Indonesian Tony Thomdean shows the Statue of Liberty holding a book on the Holocaust in its left hand and giving a Nazi-style salute with the other.

They just don't get it....it's not the fact that people are going to be offended it's the fact that you most likely not see worldwide riots as a result.

1. Let's see...
how many DUers will pop into this thread to say how great Ahmadinejad is and how his clearly anti-Semitic views are just "misunderstandings".

3. I've seen enough interviews
to make up my mind about him. He is a very dangerous man.

7. He has given interviews in print...
and I have seen most of his press conferences/announcements. I did watch the recent interview as well though. Just because he is smarter than Bush and more charismatic than Bush does not mean he is a good guy. He is still a Holocaust denying lunatic who, by every indication he has given, wants to wipe out Israel.

5. He's totally whacko allright
And I see no need to try and see this particular issue from his perspective. He clearly has none.

6. Did you notice that only 50 people attended the opening?
I thought that was curious--it's gotten a lot of publicity in Western press and I assume local press as well. I honestly wonder what the 'person on the street' opinion is on this exhibit in Iran.
