Completely confusing Freeper bumper sticker
This evening I went to pick up a decidedly decadent dinner for the MorningGlows (cheeseburgers, fries, no vegetables, no excuses) and almost lost my appetite when I parked next to a car that had this bumper sticker:

"Annoy a liberal: Work hard. Succeed. Be happy."

Now...:wtf: does that mean? I've been puzzling over it all evening. Do these Freeper types really think we want everyone in America to be failures and be miserable?

Still trying to make sense of it and...nope. Can't come up with anything. Except--yep, those Freepers sure do know how to annoy liberals--with their lame attempts at humor. :banghead:

34. Yes the book that F Murray Abraham wrote appeared racist.
Edited on Tue Aug-15-06 07:53 PM by liberaldemocrat7
However bell curve refers to a generic statistical curve that can fit many sets of data in real life.

I refer to a class of Bush voters and satirically place them at the back end of the "intelligence" bell curve.

As for African Americans I see well that many work as doctors, lawyers, presidents of companies, newspaper publishers and in many worthy fields of work.

F Murray Abraham damns African Americans a second time as African American ancestors got forbidden to get an education during the 19th century. F Murray Abraham in my view assumed that this bell curve he used would reflect a non changing reality. He assumed that African Americans could not change. Nonsense.

As a mathematician I know well that curves and statistics appear merely as maps to reflect what goes on in the real world in a snapshot of time or of a period of time, but that's just a map. If the territory or reality changes, you better create a better map or you set yourself up for mistakes if you rely on a mistaken map.

Instead of heaping insult onto injury we need to help those who need help and encourage those who have learned and do well to continue to do well.

25. Actually it was a fairly modest rust bucket domestic four-door
How ironic, no? My county is very, VERY working class (and very Republican--oh the delusions). But I work in the next county over, and there are plenty of SUVs with Bush/Cheney stickers on them there. Luckily I work at a college, so I get a healthy dose of liberal bumper-sticker sanity on a daily basis.

11. My take. Well, you have to have someone to blame.
I work in an industry rife with freepers. Low income, day-to-day existence. Their bosses bail them out regularly for DWSL, failure to appear, domestic violence, DUI, possession, fighting. A sad bunch that has given up. They are without except Republican freepers. They vote Republican. They believe in the RNC. They watch Hannity and hate the wimpy weasel Combes. They watch O'Reilly.

God love them, they work sometimes 48 hours a week at a minimal wage (not necessarily the minimum wage) and never seem to get ahead. They believe in the old American Dream; the harder you work, the further ahead you get. They do not understand that the New American Dream is the more you cheat, the further ahead you get.

They don't understand they are denigrated for the job they do. No longer is a man judged by the contribution he makes, the job he does. It is all bottom line now. HOW MUCH DO YOU MAKE?

And so he falls in the RNC trap. He is there because the liberals want to take all his money in taxes. The liberals don't want him to get ahead. It is the liberals fault, the minorities fault.

Freepers don't realize that the Republicans make up jingles for them while they oppress them.

22. So true.
They don't even realize that much of the time, they are in a tax bracket that LIBERALS WOULD CUT TAXES FOR THEM. You can't tell them that no matter how hard you try. They refuse to believe it or look up the truth. Many times even if you bother to print the full text of the truth and show it to them, they cannot read or comprehend it. It's sad, really.

13. I've seen that one in these parts too. I believe it's based on their
notion of "I got mine - go get your own". Everyone can become rich, happy and obtain the American dream if they just work at it. The Entrepreneur spirit and the idea of pulling yourself up by the bootstraps.

It's all part of the re-education that came with the Contract on America. Unions, public safety nets, minimum wage laws, regulations, etc. all stand in the way of free trade and free markets. If us "liberals" would stop fighting for that nonsense and just find a job, start a business, open an ebay shop or some other "productive" thing we'd all be better off.

The guy whos van I saw it on does have his own business, but he's first in line and has figured out every angle for getting SBA aid and loans. He plays the system quite well. :eyes:

And it doesn't annoy me at all. And i'm a liberal too! Go figure!

And, btw: Based upon the distribution of income strata in this country, there is at least a 10:1 chance against him making as much money as me! So, that makes me a harder worker, more successful, and happier.

I'd say that dumb sticker kind of blew up in his face. No?
