Reid must get it in writing: Will you support me for Leader if elected?
Joe is going around saying he is an "Independent Democrat" and all that jazz, but Rove, Bush, and a ton of other Republicans are supporting Joe even above their own GOP candidate! Meanwhile most elected Democrats are coming out for Lamont (as they should) since he won the primary.

It doesn't take a scientist to figure out that the Republicans are supporting Joe in hopes that in the next congress he will vote for a Republican Leader of the Senate--especially if Democrats pick up enough seats in the Senate this year to make Joe's vote the one which counts--should he win.

If I were Harry Reid, I would tell Lieberman "I need it in writing that if you come back to the senate you will support a Democrat (namely me) for Senate Leader and will caucus with us." If he says that he can't do that then Reid--right now--should strip Joe of his committee assignments.

While we're at it--Every Democrat who campaigned for Lieberman in the primary including "Big Dog" Clinton must insist that Lieberman either put up or shut up. Will he vote with Democrats to organize the next congress or won't he and if he truly is a Democrat they should insist that he repudiate the support of Bush, Rove and all these other Republicans.

1. Why should anyone ask him to vote with Democrats?
He will be an Independent. IMHO everyone should just ignore him & not give him any credibility whatsoever.

5. Right The Democrats should strip "Independent Joe" of all his assignments
Take his mouth piece away and let him sink into the RepubliCANT slime he chose.
We do not need to spend any more of our energy or money on LooserMan.

10. I agree 100% with you
Pull his committee seats and all of a sudden he loses a talking point that he was able to bring home all this bacon to CT because of his seniority, tenure and committee positions.

He's working with the Republicans and using talking points that hit all of us. Fuck him. He is jilted by the Democratic voters and the Dems who supported Lamont and he's someone who takes things personally... not a chance does the asshole caucus with us. Strip him now!!

7. But Sanders was an Independent too and voted with Democrats
to caucus. Lieberman says he will, but with this republican support he is getting--will he really?

9. I supported Lieberman up to and including election day
Always giving him the benefit of the doubt. Now I wish he would just go away.

11. Sanders wasn't a fucking Republican tool
Independent or not Sanders was a left winger... not a right winger using the 'D' by his name to hurt his colleagues when his corporate donors and neoconservative buddies ask him to.

2. If he's getting GOP money and Bush's support, how can he continue
to serve on his commitee assignments in a way that Reid can trust him? Time for Reid to cut the cord.

8. I'm surprised that all of those democrats campaigned for him
in the primary despite his threat to run as an independent if he lost. Shouldn't they have gotten a firm agreement that he wouldn't--made publicly--as a condidtion of them campaigning for them?
