Japan Gave US Liquid Explosives Detection System In January, But ...
the Department of Homeland Security only plans to test the system now.

Has there ever been a worse creation than DHS?

1. Now, I ask you, if our checked luggage machines can't detect liquid
explosives, why is it that one must part with the liquids in the cabin? Why wouldn't the 'intelligent' terrorist just mix the stuff before hand and put it in checked baggage? They could then trigger the explosive via cellphone, laptop, or electronic key fob.

5. I hope the baggage compartment is RF shielded.
It would be a simple and relatively inexpensive thing to do. It would be gross negligence if they are not.

6. The premixed explosive is very volatile
It would probably go off before it got to the plane.

2. They demonstrated the machines on French TV
the picture shows an orange color if the contained liquid is an explosive. Those machines are in use in French airports, I don't know since when, but they are operative.

4. you have to wonder
what exactly led DHS to sit on its hands. It joined with the FBI to issue a report last year saying that it had no way of detecting this, and that developing such technology should be a priority. The Japanese hand us a potential answer, and we do nothing?

It's not a lack of money or resources. It's a lack of brain power.
