Goddam! What A Pleasure To Hear A President Speak Again
Tonight, when they reshow it, watch Bill Gates and Bill Clinton at the AIDS Conference going on in Toronto. Both men are taking questions from the audience and President Clinton is speaking off the cuff. Intelligence, wit, presence.

Its amazing how much it is missed.

1. I might get to hear the Big Dawg himself in person tomorrow!
If I can get out of a conference call at work, that is. He'll be here doing a rally with Governor Granholm and Debbie Stabenow before a high ticket event that I couldn't afford to attend. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

8. Agree completely. I miss hearing a U.S. president speak English.
The current White House inhabitant seems to have trouble with anything involving the truth, including the problem with the absence of agility in words.

No matter what one feels about Bill Clinton's politics, the man can work a crowd, and he relies on his command of language to do it.

I think of the Democratic Party's great spokespersons -- Mario Cuomo, John & Robert Kennedy, FDR, Adlai Stevenson -- and on and on -- and then I hear snippets of Dubya on the news using that clipped, Cubist English of his -- and I just puke.
