3. 1998 price is yearly average California RFG unleaded regular. Peak price for the year was week of May 25, 1998, at $1.243.
4. 1999 price is yearly average California RFG unleaded regular. Peak price for the year was week of April 12, 1999, at $1.624.

11. 2006 price is average to 7/24/06 of California unleaded regular. Peak price to date is for week ending May 8, 2006.

Once again, highest peak price, inflation adjusted, was $3.08 in 1981. Until now. Peak this year (so far) is $3.332 a gallon.
Average for the year has surpassed that of 1981 handily. We would have to see gas prices drop to roughly $2.00 so see the yearly average decline enough. Anyone want to bet on that happening?
Inflation or not, Gas is higher under Shrub than at ANY TIME IN HISTORY. So go home and fill up that Hummer with the W04 stickers- and enjoy it.

4. I wish the democratic pols would do so
I never see anybody call the freepers on this crap. We have been well above record levels this whole year. You will notice, however, that most sites you find in a google search still use outdated numbers from 05 or 04. They don't want anyone to realize this.

6. Get this though....
The price oil came down a little bit in the wake of the fewer airline flights.... Not much but some.... it made me think.

WHAT IF....
OPEC nations were forced to come down on terrorist groups because their actions were hurting THEIR bottom line?

maybe seriously limiting airline travel isn't such a bad thing....
Force 'em to clean house.

Economics worked in Montgomery, Alabama.....

7. My Republican (extended) family went apeshit when prices hit
a whopping, outrageous, $1.10 a gallon.

They couldn't afford it, it was an outrage, how were they supposed to live?

They were pissed at the president, because he wasn't doing anything to lower prices or stop the gouging.

Of course, that was back when we had a Dem in charge...
