Crowley: Foiled Plot Could Be Boost for Repugs
Edited on Sun Aug-13-06 01:21 PM by Texas Explorer
...paraphrased. Candy Crowley on CNN just said that the success of the British intelligence apparatus may lend a boost to the repugs in November, basically nullifying the statement made by Connecticut voters in the case of Lamont v. Lieberman. How the hell can the repugs be given credit for a British success?

She also said that in a sampling of polls, Americans' biggest concern is terrorism and the same polls have Dems leading the repugs by 8 percentage points.

3. Even after the plot is exposed as a hoax?
I'll bet she didn't consider that possibility.

8. Be careful here. She may very well be correct.
The "fear factor" has worked well for them in the past. It very well might work again.

Now, I think that many people have opened their eyes to it. It also looks like the Democrats are going to call ChimpCo down on the mat for this tactic. However, one should never underestimate the intelligence of the American public. With all the news media screeching in unison with ChimpCo, the fear factor may still get some play.

I expect an uptick in ChimpCo's approval ratings.

10. While I'm thinking about it: Addendum to OP
Edited on Sun Aug-13-06 01:58 PM by Texas Explorer
On Edit to OP: I just looked over at the TV and CNN is playing, in their self-indulgent manner, CNN Presents about the looming energy crisis. While I usually follow this particular documentary series, it's not the actual topic itself that's got my attention today.

You see, a while ago (few weeks), there was an earthquake in the S. Pacific and CNN held their breath awaiting (and hoping for, I'm sure) word whether or not there would be another tsunami on the scale of the Boxing Day tsunami that ravaged the Indian Ocean in 2004. Being a reporter in my own right and purpose, I decided to follow the story on my sites and so I called the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Honolulu, Hawaii and spoke with their public liason official myself and asked him whether this particular earthquake had indeed caused a tsunami. He said that although a detection bouy registered a blip, it is a common occurence in the S. Pacific and there was no, nor was there going to be, a tsunami. I politely thanked him, hung up and killed the story.

However, it was less than thirty minutes since news of the earthquake hit that I placed that call. But CNN's Kagan (if I remember correctly, maybe it was Phillips) and Jerris were still talking about a tsunami more than an hour later. Finally, an hour and fifteen minutes after I was told it was nothing, CNN finally sounded the all clear. But you can bet that before they did, they got every available talking head on it they could, maybe even Gupta too talking about the psychological toll on islanders in the region, hell I don't know because I got sick of their stupidity.

Now, I will finally get to the point of this edit which is to say that CNN loves this shit. And, what the hell? Now there's a screen bug in the lower right hand corner dramatically counting down to the second the end of the war between Hezbollah and Israel. Fucking idiots. And they're the best we got? Sheesh.

11. Has Candy ever seen any event ever that wasn't a boost for her Republicans
She's a vicious ideologue, and has no business masuerading as a political expert on CNN. She is Republican through and through, and never has anything happened in the history of the world that might bode well for Democrats and badly for Republicans. How anyone takes her seriously is a mystery of great complexity.

13. Is she related to this Contessa idiot on MSNBC?
She first began lecturing her guest on "basic psychology" as if she had a fucking clue. Then she began slobbering over poor Shrug who was trying to have a vacation during this MAJOR TERRORIST PLOT...then she devolved even further into fashion tips about taking lipstick onto the airlines and how that's going to cause confusion with lip gloss.

PLEASE GOD PULL THE PLUG ON HER TIME SLOT!
