" how to bust the religious right"

http://www.politicalcortex.com/story/2006/8/11/11325/5415

This Week in Blogging the Religious Right

There is dynamite material in this blog round-up that points to themes that have never been adequately exploited by those affected by the religious right. If these themes were further developed, they could almost serve as a briefinb book on how to bust the religious right. Three examples:

1) Routine lies and distortions by religious right organizations and leaders

2) The bizarre role of Rev. Sun Myung Moon in the GOP

3) Forced abortion and prostitution in the free market paradise of the Mariannas promoted and protected by Tom DeLay and Jack Abramoff.

There have been a great many unexploited or underexploited fractures, flaws, hypocrises and more over the years. To make effective use of such things requires knowledge and skills in using the material effectively. These are things that are rarely encouraged anywhere left of the religious right.

And people wonder why the religious right is so powerful.

Meanwhile, I am playing catch-up with the rapidly accelerating big bang of the blogosphere -- since I have been out of action for a bit. In any case, here is a round-up of some of the most interesting and significant discussion of the religious right and what to do about it that I can find out there. Some of them I saved from a little while back. Most are very recent. Religious Right Watch

Talk to Action

Max Blumenthal has an expose of the new Christians United for Israel headed by Texas televangelist John Hagee, "a newly formed political organization that tells its members that supporting Israel's expansionist policies is 'a biblical imperative.'" In sum: "They have their own agenda and it has nothing to do with peace." Interestingly, the first lobbyist for the group, David Borg, used to be the chief of staff to U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA).

Diarist Kaylor reveals that the Interfaith Stewardship Alliance -- a religous right group that recently issued a statement that downplays concerns about climate change -- has serious conflicts of interest:
...of the signers, eight of them work for six organizations that have received a total of $2.32 million in donations from ExxonMobil over the last three years. This includes one of the four authors of the document. Two men connected to the Jack Abramoff scandal also signed the statement.

1. I've been busting them for years.
"That is the most unchristian thing I've ever heard" socks them right in the solar plexus. They know I can prove it, too. They've read all those words in red in their babbles. They know what the man said and how it differs from what they are being told by all the haters from the right.

Yes, the inconsistencies are there and they are glaring. Just don't let them get away with them while calling themselves morally superior.

2. These are talking points?
1) Routine lies and distortions by religious right organizations and leaders

Which ones? How about focusing on the Bush administration and their astounding failures and illegal activities. How about 'the Constitution says 'separation of church and state'? Are these people for or against the US Constitution? Yes or No...don't be afraid to get into their faces and call them traitors.

Besides religion cuts deep in both parties, so why bother set yourself up as intolerant to peoples' religious beliefs -- it is a free country, it's just there is a RULE already in place and these people are crossing the line...they hate America...they think America is no good...get livid with these people...they are implying that everyone else are sinners and immoral.

Just don't let THEM define what a Christian is -- that's all and challenge the media on it...the media really only favors certain types of evangelicals.

Anytime that racist fucker Robertson is on CNN -- there should be an immediate campaign to demand equal time for OTHER demoninations...does Pat speak for Christians? Fuck no...so get after them.

2) The bizarre role of Rev. Sun Myung Moon in the GOP

Dumb...it will just give them the opportunity of mentioning Soros or Hollywood liberals and their bizarre anti-democratic interest group role.

3) Forced abortion and prostitution in the free market paradise of the Mariannas promoted and protected by Tom DeLay and Jack Abramoff.

This one is really fucking stupid...why point this out?
Won't they just agree that's a problem and that should be stopped AS WELL
