1. That's easy.
The Junta is taking credit for it. And they are using it vigorously in their fundraising and campaign literature, along the lines of, "If you vote Democrat, we can't guarantee that the next plot won't be successful."

It is fearmongering, pure and simple.

2. It doesn't. Shrub is trying to take credit for this bust, and saying
the US was working closely with the Brits. That's not exactly what I've heard though. I heard the US was in the dark about this whole thing until just a very few days before the bust.

The ruth however doesn't stop ShrubCo from trying to take credit for the whole thing though.

4. fear trumps reason
they have gotten good at stirring up talk show pundits with fear tactics.

It is their only card, but they get to use it over and over and over and over and over again.

6. Because Bushco was involved in the take down.
Never mind that the "terrorists" were lacking passports and airline tickets as well as the liquid explosives. Never mind that Bushco's only involvement was pressuring the Brits into moving on them instead of doing more investagation to be sure this was actually going to get past the planning stages. Seems to have worked though, I saw on the news that 55% of america now thinks Bushco is keeping them safe.

9. FEAR
It has worked for them in the past.

MSM is silly, in an ovine being led by admintalkingpoints sorta way.

Remember - "capturing Saddam" was great for bushco... per the MSM... and how long did that "bump" last? About 3 days.

Economy sucks for many people - in terms of how it affects their lives. Pushing the ALL FEAR ALL THE TIME meme isn't going to minimize the fact that those living closer to the edge financially than they did a few years ago, are realizing that they aren't at risk from terrorists, but they are at risk of drowning financially.

Silly media rabbits... trix and all that...

btw :hi:

10. anyone see " How art made the world" on PBS?
Program Five - To Death and Back
Today in the 21st Century people see fewer real dead bodies than at any time in history. Yet in the modern world we seem almost obsessed with images of death. In an investigation encompassing ancient Jericho, Aztec America, and classical Italy, How Art Made the World discovers what it is that has compelled human beings to surround themselves with images of death for thousands of years.

In the fifth episode they talk about how the Aztec rulers surrounded their citizens with images of death in order to constantly remind people of their own mortality. Apparently this reinforces the desire to identify with others who share our values and to reject those who don't. It also reinforces support for the state which is seen to have some control over death.

I don't really remember all of the psychology involved. But, it went something like that. If you get a chance check it out.
