I dunno. That Anti-War Protest Crowd in DC Looks PRETTY FUCKING BIG TO ME!

Demonstrators carry flags of Lebanon and Palestine during a march near the White House in Washington, DC. Several thousand people demonstrated outside the White House to protest Israel's US-backed military operations in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.(AFP/Mandel Ngan)

Actually they look pretty fucking big ALL OVER THE WORLD! You won't see this on your TV.

2. I counted up the populations of the Middle East countries
Lebanon 4 million
Iraq 27 million
Saudi Arabia 27 million
countries we don't talk to:
Iran 70 million
Syria 19 million
These countries above total 147 million which equals almost 2/3 of the US
and
Israel 6 million

8. I am tell you it's bizarro policies
You can't just jump on the bandwagon of one nation with 6 million and defend it against all comers with a surrounding populations of 147 million. Israel, a country, with 6 million
has the 5th largest army in the world. But shouldn't we be looking for a diplomatic
solution not a military solution? What's to keep the surrounding population using their
petrodollars from acquiring large weapons as well.

3. "You won't see this on your TV." And that's a big part of our problem.
The ongoing dumbing down of America by the corporate media whores; I wish the truth was enough of an inspiration to actually report it.

7. Sept 24 2005 - Half a Million Protesters in DC got less news coverage...
than a St Bernard that swallowed a 13" knife and lived. I know. I was there. We had a great DU meetup.

We were very friendly with the "first responders" who were keeping the protest "orderly" and someone who had been in DC back as far as the 60's said it was the biggest protest he had seen since those days.

Then in October the Millions More March brought 2 MILLION people to DC and the administration "ignored" the protesters then too.

Then the immigration protests came and they made stupid jokes or stupid statements.

Then the Rainbow Families tried to just have a peaceful gathering and they were met with baracaides, kangaroo courts and fines.

And the protests go on because we just aren't going to succumb to the lies and give up.

Like Ghandi said:

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

9. Same here in L.A. There were hundreds of photographers
and a helicopter suspended overhead the entire time, taping the whole thing, I presume. I'd estimate there were about 20,000 people there but the only mention of it was a 3-second clip of Martin Sheen. I was so pissed, but should be used to it. The same underreporting happened in San Francisco in the early seventies. If someone had told me then that we'd be encountering the same government-complicit media games almost 40 years later, I never would have believed it. Idealism has succombed to cynicism.

15. Shit, wish I was there. Kinda feel guilty that I'm not getting up off my
ass. Didn't even know this was happening. Today I put my address on the ANSWER mailing list. Is there a forum on DU where people talk about organizing protests?

17. Wow! Somebody has to take
to the streets to protest the insanity in Washinton and Israel.

The fascist media won't report it but they need to be boycotted. What if nobody watched or listened to them anymore? What would their sponsors do?
