Both The Fascists and The Terrorists Have Won
I have come to the haunting conclusion that our democracy, civil liberties, and personal security have been lost forever. We are ruled by terrorist plotters and fascist government leaders, both of which feed off each other. The terrorists scare us. Then the government restricts more personal freedom and scare us into voting for more fascist leaders. It's a never ending cycle.

Fear of another 9/11 has been used to justify everything from de-regulation of the environment to eliminating the estate tax to the war in Iraq, and the American people have voted their fear every election cycle since 9/11.

What's even obscenely worse is that the government has done little or nothing to actually take down terrorist groups like Al Qeda. We're bogged down in a mindless war in Iraq with no exit strategy, and yet we're told that this is somehow linked to the war on terror. Well, if invading Iraq has made us safer, then why is it that 4 years after the war, we cannot take a bottle of water onto a plane.

Last Tuesday, Democratic voters in CT made a courageous and bold statement. They rejected fear-based politics and voted for accountability from their government. By Wednesday, their courage was openly mocked by the corporate news media.

Let's face facts, our democracy is dead.

2. By Thursday, Democratic voters saw the mocking for what it was
The last gasps of a vast right-wing conspiracy that that lost its leverage because it can't scare them anymore. And by November, enough of them voted to put them back in power.

5. Indeed, the downgrade of OBL by the FBI speaks volumes
Usama Bin Laden is wanted in connection with the August 7, 1998, bombings of the United States Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya. These attacks killed over 200 people. In addition, Bin Laden is a suspect in other terrorist attacks throughout the world.

I'm sure the Clinton-let-Osama-get-away-crowd must be loving this.

6. Yeah, it sure seems that way right now..
but I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give up and it's gonna swing the other way.

The terrorists and the fascists feed off each other and I hope they eat each other alive.

7. This is the line that needs to be used constantly.
"If invading Iraq has made us safer, then why is it that nearly four years after the war, we cannot take a bottle of water onto a plane?"

It's simple, vivid, and can be used to hammer anyone who spouts the nonsense that BushCo has made us any safer in the past five years since 9/11.

10. No, democracy is not dead.....IT'S ALIVE IN CONNECTICUT!!!!!
and that's what scares the sh*t out of the people who REALLY are trying to take America down ~ from "within". They're not sure how much more of America has a viable pulse.

11. If they cancel the November elections, THEN we'll know that we've lost
Canceled elections are a HUGE sign that something isn't quite right with our fair democracy. Or if the Rethugs win again...major Diebolding.

Like I said in another thread, Bushco is the early stages of a fascist regime. It can still be stopped, but only with a helluva lot of determination and pressure from the folks that really matter the most-the people of the United States of America. And if you get the people of the United States of America angry-you're screwed buddy-boy Dumbya. You. Are. Screwed. No "secret police" or whatever of yours can stop us. There is power in numbers and theres a whole helluva lot of us. If you and your crowd even THINKS of canceling the November elections (or if y'all WIN yet again...:eyes:), believe me and believe every single person on this site and many more people, YOU, sir, WILL be hearing from us.

i kinda went off. Hope y'all don't mind.

12. You are 100% correct- unfortunately.
When the Congress and Senate, both Dems and Repubs
are owned by the multi national corporates and bankers
and touch screen voting assures the outcome of elections,
yes- democracy has ended for the US.

I will continue to vote, because better men and women
have died for my right to vote, but I will not be surprised
when my vote doesn't count.

People in America, for the most part, know that
something is terribly wrong, however most don't
have a clue as to what the actual problem is.
That is why the country we grew up believing
existed no longer does.

"They" are WAY ahead of us and by the time
people figure out what has happened
it will be much too late.
It already is actually.

13. The people we thought we hired to 'take care of business' ...
... have moved us out of our home, stolen the 'business,' and have made it all about them.

It's not about them. It's about us. The People.

We're not a commodity to be sold, traded, herded, and lied to. We ARE this country - this nation!

Unless and until we, the people, realize this and take back what's been stolen from us by crooked and corrupt hirelings who we've enriched with our labors and protected with our blood, we'll be forced to live in our own basements, fighting with the rats to survive.
