New Treatment Model for Bipolar Disorder Show Promise
A new treatment model for bipolar disoder tested in veterans across the nation reduced their manic episodes and improved their quality of life, according to research led by a psychiatrist with the Providence Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Brown Medical School.

The randomized ,controlled trail also showed that model did not add to the cost for treatment for bipolar disorder, which affects nearly 6 million Americans adults a year. Results appear in two reports published in Psychiatric Services,a journal of the American Psychiatric Assocation.

3. "The stigma of helplessness"
That is such a true phrase. It's time for society to understand that there is a genetic predisposition for this illness, just like there is for diabetes and hypertension, etc. People shouldn't have to feel helpless about a disease they were most likely born with.

Of course the Bush Budget would cut this program. We can't help ordinary Americans now, could we? :sarcasm:
