Anyone here changed their minds about the F-Bomb ("Fascism")?
Has anyone here previously been adverse to using the word "fascism" to describe our government but now, due to the flight restrictions, is willing to use the word?

1. I have been using this word to describe the GOP/right wing...
ever since the Clinton impeachment fiasco in the Fall of 1998.

2. bushitler must have learned the word while on vacation. He
sure has been throwing it out there. "Islamic fascists." One is an ideology the other a religion.

4. He has to differentiate
"Islamic fascists" are the enemy. "Christian fascists" are his base.

5. Here's a wake-up call: America is already a Fascist Nation.
Mussolini believed a nation controlled by the powerful wealthy (corporations) and elites (our current crop of politicians) is a fascist state. He also believed this is how all countries should govern their people.

A study was conducted to discover what exactly does a any government need to be labeled "fascist", and the 7 conditions that fuel and foster fascism.

Here's a link:

Scroll down to view the 14 Characteristics of Fascism, and tell me why we aren't a fascist country already.

6. Recommended reading....

this is one of the best essays I have read on the matter.

"...Propaganda also empowers the oppressors with elitism racially, socially, intellectually and/or spiritually." This is nowhere more apparent than in the garbage spewing out of Cheney, where he describes Lamont as a supporter of al-Qaeda.

10. Thanks for the recommendation, AntiFascist. I hope many more DUers
...will link to, and read this article as well.

Propaganda is the tool used to close the people's eyes, and minds.

Persuasion, as used by Michael Moore, Joe Conason, David Sirota, David Brock of Media Matters for America, and many, many others here as well as at other liberal blogs opens our eyes back up.

Goebbels and Goering knew how to battle for "hearts and minds" of the generally intelligent German people---even the German Jews---to suit their goals.

You attack your opponent's strengths not weakness(es). And as we've already seen with McClellan <sp?>, John Kerry, and now John Murtha, it's still as successful today as it was back in Goebbels and Goering's time, and I'm sure they're going to go "all out" in the coming months, what with the majority of Americans finally awakening from their comatose state.

Rove takes his lessons out of their propaganda playbook, and it's served the Bush Regime, and the Republican politicians well. In order not to fall for a Nazi tactic again, we need to refrain from watching any MSM.

Besides, with DemocraticUnderground.com, Truthdig.com, Mediamatters.org, Dailykos, HuffingtonPost.com, etc., we get the same news only with a REAL opposing POV to help keep us from slipping back into that coma, and that's why Cheney's words ring so hollow these days...

7. The fascists in our government must be aware of their fascism, otherwise
Edited on Sat Aug-12-06 02:21 PM by grannylib
they wouldn't be using the term 'Islamo-fascists' about terra-ists.
That's part of the rePiglican strategy...project, project, project.
That and lie, cheat, steal, smear and create fear.

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross."

All too true.

Just before I came back to DU I did a search for the fourteen signs of fascism. We hit every one of them.

11. Now that Bush himself has used this term, I think we should
make sure that we ask all his minions to define it.

12. Bush fascism
George Bush violates his oath of office which requires that he uphold the laws of the country and protect and defend the Constitution. Facism rears its head in America.

First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out.
Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out.
Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out.
And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me."
Martin Niemoller

(Martin Niemoller was a church leader in Germany and a supporter of Hitler's brand of nationalism. Unfortunately, Hitler got around to being displeased by Niemoller's church, and Niemoller wound up in a concentration camp for a number of years.)
