Urging Connecticut DUers to contact state Dems to campaign for Lamont
In the past, state Democrats in Connecticut have not hesitated to hang one of their own out to dry - see Bill Curry in 2002 - by not actively campaiging for the party's nominee. None of the major Democrats in the state actively supported Curry in 2002 - Dodd, Lieberman, Larson, DeLauro, etc. - because Curry had an uphill battle against the corrupt governor Johnny "Hot Tub" Rowland. However, it was not an insurmountable lead for Rowland and a vigorous campaign by state Dems could have helped immensely.

I think if state Dems of prominence get out there quickly and actively, it's more possible that Joememtum drops out.

But, I used my old home address to write to larson.

Any other state Dems we can contact? Who is the chairman of the state Democratic party? Any other major Dems in state - Senate Majority Leader? Our current Lt Governor?

10. I watched a press conference on CSpan with all the CT politicos
Edited on Mon Aug-14-06 08:08 AM by LynneSin
Chrisopher Dodd was there along with some folks who were elected to statewide positions in CT. And so was Ned Lamont. They were all there to support him

I think this is the link - can't view it through the firewall so if it isn't let me know

It's the first clip

12. Thanks, but
There is a big difference between standing on a stage with him in his moment of victory and actually doing the dirty work and hitting the streets to campaign for Lamont.

Chris Dodd, for example, campaigned heavily for Lieberman in the few weeks leading up to the primary. He traveled around the state, made appearances on talk shows, and I think I got a canned phone call or two from him.

Will Dodd do the same for Lamont now? Or, will he sit on the fence until somebody emerges as a frontrunner?

13. They were all supporting Ned Lamont in the clip that I saw
I'm not too worried what he did before the primary and I would have been shocked if he wasn't out there campaigning for Lieberman before the primaries

11. A problem with Curry-he looked horrible
Rowland already beat Curry eight years before, but then in 2002, Curry was the best CT Dems could offer?!? Not exactly the way to motivate people to help. But, perhaps, eight years gave Curry the time to polish his public persona.

Well, I saw the Rowland-Curry debate in 2002. It was obviously those eight years were wasted by Curry. Let's just say he was not made for primetime and I suspect that didn't help the already-beaten challenger.
