My letter to be in Monday's Seattle Times

Editor: In light of the bombing plot that was foiled by British
intelligence, I would like to know how our invasion of Iraq has anything
to do with preventing the kind of attack that we learned about today.
From the beginning, many commentators have said that good international
police work would be far more effective in bringing UBL and his minions
to justice. And it wouldn't cost billions that could otherwise be spent
on securing borders, ports, chemical/nuclear plants, etc. Doesn't this
plot prove that fighting them over there has virtually nothing to do with
keeping us safe? I just want someone to explain to me how we're safer now
that we've lost so much in Iraq.
