Who Will, Or Can, Give Us A News Outlet Of Our Own?
Cnn just hired Bennett, Beck and Julius Caesar Watts. Tweety compared Michael Moore to OBL, Joe Dead Intern made the same comparison with Kennedy, Kerry and others. Fox is faux. We're being boxed in with no way to get the message, or truth, out. We need help. But who has the cash or would take this on? This problem is getting bigger by the minute. I thought when AG started his station it would be for that purpose, but sadly, not. The situation is becoming dire, especially with the elections coming up.

5. Thanks
I especially like seeing Gore Vidal's pic on the page. I hope they amp it up (will send a donation) cause it's a desert out here.

6. It's not so much what WE want to watch-
BTW- I have Dish, and I've never been all that thrilled with either linktv or democracy now-
but i'm not all that concerned about finding progressive news outlets for my own viewing- that would pretty much be preaching to the choir-

what concerns me, and i think also the original poster- is that there is no longer any mainstream media outlets that that provide a balanced view, or a truthful view, let alone a left-leaning one.

and the sheeple believe what the glowing box tells them.

7. Infotainment is the mission- you're not going to be able to change
this as long as news is now part of the profit center.

8. Good Points
And yes, I would like truth and a balanced view. I'm sick to death of RW talking points serving as fact. As for the progressive point of view, it doesn't have a peep of an chance right now. The problem also is I don't have much patience for the conservative point of view but if I'm willing to tune in to hear Bob Barr introduce Al Gore (which it turns out he didn't)then I can give a listen and see what they have to say, as long as they are sane. I would also like more in-depth international news.

9. That sound you hear is television sets all over the country being clicked
OFF. I certainly don't miss watching Fox or Bill O'Reilly or feel that I'm being deprived of vital information by not watching him/them. So, now that I have made a conscious decision to just cold turkey myself from CNN and MSNBC, I really don't see why it will be any different, because they have not informed or educated me or anyone else for quite a long time. I used to actually enjoy Crossfire, the Capitol Gang, Hardball and Imus in the Morning. The first two are gone anyway and I will NEVER EVER watch Mathews again - he just doesn't deserve it. Swiftboats, his newly found love for fascism, plantation, etc. all the while ignoring real news. I will watch when David Gregory subs and that's it.I can't forgive Imus for dissing Al Gore after the speech of the century and I'm sure he never bothered to inform himself and either read or listen to the speech.

But what I have just been thinking, is that these have to be the dumbest networks in the history of the world. They are supposedly NEWS networks and yet they cover little to no actual news. I have seen no newspapers or blogs or magazines that have any concern whatsoever about Natalie Holloway, or missing cruise bridegrooms. Most of their viewers are better informed about the issues of the day then their so called reporters or "journalists". So, I will get my news from the internet and I may still watch the occasional Sunday show if the usual stable of rodeo clowns has the day off. I hope CNN and MSNBC go down the tubes in ignominy as they deserve to. And you know what? I predict a resurgence in the plain old nightly network news.

10. Here, Here
I wrote Mathews about his abysmal shows and signed it with my name and the following: "one of those left wing whack jobs you refer to". This week was the last I could take of him.

Interest in the return of The Fairness Doctrine is growing. It will be reinstated soon.

12. It is unlikely
that any large -- hence corporate -- media source would be capable of providing accurate news. Malcolm used to say that a hen can not produce a duck egg. The answer is not to attempt to create a large media source, but to concentrate on small, local sources of information that are able to coordinate and share, not capitalize and compete.
