1. Our success in the
2006 midterm elections will be our ability to counter this spin. THose of us who really pay attention to politics see this for what it is, opportunistic bull shit. However, the rest of the country only listens to sound bites and I fear stuff like this will stick in their brains unless we can end it fast.

6. And do what?
Live in blissful ignorance and have no idea what kind of assanine garbage is being pumped into the minds of our fellow citizens/voters? Better to be forewarned and armed with knowledge to fight the lies than to be comfortably ignorant and then wonder why we keep "losing" elections.

10. WRONG. If we don't watch and call them on the b.s. who will? Better
than contacting CNN is contacting their advertisers. This kind of crap is SWIFTBOATING and I thought DU was supposed to jump all over it!! Contact CNN advertisers and let them know that we will boycott them.

13. They need to be held to account for this propaganda and we must
write, call, email. If they don't stop, go after their advertisers. I guess this week I'll start working on a list of advertisers that are show specific. It's time they were taken to task for this propaganda!

47. when regan was 'elected'
how could a dolt like regan, who was identified with the most reactionary forces in the country, who was despised by the 'counterculture'; who proudly said he's never read an entire book to its end, who was once suspected of the raping/murder of a girl while working as a lifeguard/cheerleader/pinup boy etc, a guy who'd been a union leader, then a ratfink against the labour movement....how could such a noodle get to be prez?
>the pigmedia wanted him
>few people voted in the 1980 election (only 37 percent of eligible)
>october surprise kept the carter admin tied up in knots (re: hostages)
having killed both jfk, senator rfk and the leaders of black america, mr pigfat had nothing to lose ...lying became the main weapon of the pig news media...

yes midnight, there is a devil, his name is lucifer, and he rules most of the world...
(remember also that the USA is humanity's biggest investment in terms of its creative energies and people - like the roman catholic church, lucifer would naturally infect these most inportant entities, while accusing nkorea and iran/iraq/cuba canada france etc of being 'evil')...to put it bluntly, they HATE us....

Reagan! Rapist! 3/8/99 by Rack Jite - http://rackjite.com

In Kitty Kelley's 1991 book Nancy Reagan: The Unauthorized Biography, actress Selene Walters accused Ronald Reagan
of raping her. People magazine did a follow up interview with Walters, and all in all it had about the same credibility as the
Juanita Broaddwick story. Except of course, there was no television network devoting most of its time to it, the Wall Street
Journal did not devote its editorial page to it, it did not appear as headlines in all the major newspapers, it was not the topic of
discussion on every talking head program, and Rush Limbaugh never even mentioned it. In fact I have not seen nor heard any
mention of this anywhere by any media source other than on the net.

It is blatant slander. This type of rhetoric is dangerously simililar to what the Nazi party was saying about their political opponents in Germany.

Edited on Sat Aug-12-06 10:50 AM by kenny blankenship
Will you still be giving them the benefit of the doubt when they call you Al-Quaeda? If Ned Lamont, a millionaire 4th generation Harvard grad is "the Al-Quaeda candidate" according to CNN, what does that make those who voted for him?
Now remember what Bush has said he's allowed to do to Al-Quaeda "types". That's right: imprisonment and torture without trial, assassination, massive collateral damage to innocent bystanders to get just one of you Al-Quaeda types.

12. CNN, Fox, MSNBC - Same GOP media spin, different channel.
The good news is that after 10+ years of distorting the news in favor of GOP/RW talking points, the American people seem to be waking up to the bias. As things get appreciably worse for this country, the broadcast media is getting more overt in their rhetoric supporting the GOP spin and this makes more Americans realize that there is something dreadfully wrong with our Fifth Estate.

22. My email
How dare you (Chuck Roberts) parrot the GOP LIE of Ned Lamont, or anyone, being the "alQaeda candidate". That is completely ridiculous.

"Some people say"??

What are you Fox News??? Who said it?

Okay since you are quoting anything that is said now how about I hear this on CNN Headline News and CNN--9/11 happened on Bush's watch. How about I hear that everytime anything related or unrelated to that horrible day is mentioned? Does it strike you as odd that Bush continues to take CREDIT for 9/11, does that make any sense?

Some people say that Bush's negligence and incompetence facilitated 9/11.
Has anyone been better for alQaeda than the Bush administration?

Oh on a non-9/11 related topic--- every story about the war in Iraq should contain the death count of US military personnel, the cost of the war to date, and the statement that (not "some people" but) EVERYONE KNOWS THEY LIED US INTO THIS WAR.

Try that on for size you miserable hump.

25. HERE'S MY LETTER ---- I IMPLORE EVERYONE TO WRITE ONE
I watched the video. It makes me very angry.

Headline News,

So, I finally got a chance to locate the way to yell at CNN for it's obviously inappropriate over the line comment by the ANCHOR throwing out "Ned Lamont, the Al-Qaeda Candidate"! Apologies are in order. If they don't come, I'll write the advertisers as I've read online many others are about to do if an apology isn't issued.

Here's why it's wrong to do what he did - if we called Joe Lieberman the candidate of Jewish Terrorism, would your ANCHOR say that or allow someone on the show to say that? It's uncalled for NED LAMONT IS NOT THE CANDIDATE OF AL QAEDA AND TO INSINUATE HE IS, AND TRY AND SAVE IT BY SAYING, AS IF HE ALMOST FORGOT HE BETTER SAVE HIS ASS, "AS SOME HAVE SUGGESTED", IS ALLOWING EXTREME LIES TO BE USED TO BELITTLE AND SLANDER ANOTHER CANDIDATE.

This is wrong! Apologize.

28. Referring to "the Manchurian Candidate."

A synopsis of "the Manchurian Candidate."
http://www.tribute.ca/synopsis.asp?m_id=7771

U.S. Army Major Bennett Marco (Denzel Washington) can't sleep at night … and he doesn't want to. Marco spends his days giving inspiring speeches about his platoon's ambush in the Kuwaiti desert and the heroics of Sergeant Raymond Shaw (Liev Schreiber), who won the Medal of Honor for saving Marco's crew. But at night, Marco's dreamlike memories of the desert turn sinister and terrifying. And Marco privately wonders whether the two soldiers who died in the firefight might have met darker fates than officially recorded - and whether Shaw might not be the glorious hero that everyone thinks he is.

When Shaw takes the national stage as a surefire candidate for vice-president - under the thumb of his controversial mother, Senator Eleanor Prentiss Shaw (Meryl Streep) - Marco is forced to act on his growing suspicions. With military officials questioning his sanity, and the net of security tightening around Shaw, Marco races to probe deeper into the unimaginable, shocking truth before the White House is won.

40. A news organization with standards won't ask such a question ..
.. unless the question has some factual basis, since asking the question makes the accusation.

Suppose, for example, someone wandered about your town, asking questions of the following sort (and using your real name):
Might some people say LibInTexas supports sodomizing children? What about the questions about LinInTexas's neo-Nazi sympathies? Have you heard that LibInTexas is stockpiling guns and ammo to prepare for an invasion from Oklahoma?

If this happens, you should sue; and if the defendant cutely responds "Well, I am only asking harmless questions," your attorney should sneer loudly in court -- because these are not really questions, they are slanders ...
