UN force could deploy in 7-10 days

De Soto said Israel's offensive was in its "last throes" and should wrap up in one to two days. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who has backed the U.N. resolution, plans to put it to a vote of his cabinet on Sunday, officials said.

A formal, verifiable ceasefire could be reached "within a week or so," allowing the deployment of Lebanese troops along with an expanded U.N. force, de Soto said.

De Soto and other Western diplomats said U.N. troops were likely to start moving into southern Lebanon in about 10 days, barring another escalation in fighting.

Israel expects a ceasefire to take effect by Monday, the Ynet news web site reported, quoting sources in Olmert's office.

2. I think they probably really meant the media coverage of it

In America, anyway. England might keep reporting on it for a little bit longer, because their government is not as strict with the press in some ways, or at least that is what it seems like to me, like when they show clips from it, or CNN international, you can see a difference in the reporting.

But I think they might be worried that if they keep covering it that it is going to make Americans stop having unconditional support for Israel because it is just too hard for them to report just the basics of things that happen without it looking like they are trying to make Israel look bad.
