What does peace mean to you?
without all the crazy shit?

Do you really feel afraid?

What a joke.

What is peace, and why shouldn't it happen?

1. Peace and justice. inseperable.
Love and fidelity have come together; justice and peace join hands.

2. Peace to me is tolerance, fairness,
Learning from each other, celebrating our differences.
It takes a village to raise a child, but first we need a
village where people aren't afraid to walk outside their
door, so to speak.

11. That kind of cynicism is what happens when you have hung about with Sam.
Personally, I think he's still riding with Pancho Villa.

Or with Captain Stormfield.

4. Peace is simply recognition of the truth.
And the truth is that we are all connected, we are all human, and there is a level at which we are all one. Its that simple. Because peace is truth, it WILL happen in time. It may take a long time, but it will happen. What keeps it from happening is lies, pure and simple. But most importantly, it is the lie that tells us that what what happens in lebanon or isreal or iraq or darfur is not our blood, not our children, but somebody else's, when in fact it is US that are bleeding and burning in these lands, and if we were truly awake we would see it. :(

7. oh my goodness, what you said about being "one"
...I have a blurb I wrote for my website:
"...I believe, that without a stinking doubt, we're all connected. You to me, me to you, one life to another. It's when that connection is broken or threatened that humanity is threatened."

:toast:

5. "Peace" is the inherent result of the release of the selfishness of people
Someday, you quote me on that. Put it on a t-shirt.

6. Peace means
Harmony understanding happiness growth knowledge and all the good thing that can only comes from peace.

It means education
It means helthcare
It means security
It means environment
It means religious freedom
It means economic growth
It means loving one another as a person
It means hardwork
It means anti corruption
It means justification for one action

WAR.... means war
War means sacrifices for war
War means killing for war
War means only one side can win
War means you cannot have all the above cause we at war.

One of you great president Thomas Jefferson once wrote in a letter....
I fear the day when the military complex and the business grows so strong that they can interfer with the working of the goverment. ( The meaning but not the exact words )

Today we just have to look at US a country that spend more on military then the entire world.
US is a country of WAR
Since the end of the Cold War it has been on a road to decline. So now a new enemies was form.
No more the Russian but a religion in which you have 57 countries as enemies. But a merchant of dead can only sell to one side. Even if you sell to both side you ultimately has to choose a side.
And so now we have more merchant of death. And so we continue this cycle on and on. And one day there would not be a need no more. For the strongest merchant of dead would be the winner.
When that days come. The Merchant of death will now see people as their enemies. Cause you still need to sell weapons and weapons need to be use. And there is no one to fight with but the people.

12. Peace is *more* than the absence of war
Edited on Sat Aug-12-06 12:11 PM by Cerridwen
It is well fed, well loved, happy children playing unafraid in their neighborhood

It is well fed, well loved, happy people living in communities

It is feeling safe walking down the roads or streets in your town or village

It is solving conflict through discussion, understanding and empathy

It is recognizing that how we treat "the least of us" is of paramount importance

It is recognizing that if our thoughts said aloud are unacceptable, then it is the thoughts and what they say about *us* that is questionable

It is living "The Golden Rule" with sincerity and integrity

Edited to add:

Peace is the freedom to feel comfortable and safe "in our skin".
