The clouds are so thick the satellite can't get through tonight

and the house in in silence.

the power's gone and the dog's panting

the roll of thunder

punctuates solitude

comforted by the caress

of rain.

Outside's a different story.

There's Iraq
and Lebanon.

There are the people
under the bridge
trying to keep dry.

There's the ones
holding the
dying bodies
of someone dear.

There's the Mothers and Fathers
waiting for their child
to come home
from war.

But here it's quiet
the glow from this screen
and the sound of
the keys.
