Sheehan treated at Waco hospital
By ANGELA K. BROWN, Associated Press Writer
10 minutes ago

WACO, Texas - Anti-war demonstrator Cindy Sheehan was hospitalized Friday evening for dehydration and exhaustion after fasting for more than a month and protesting earlier this week in 100-degree weather, friends and relatives said.

Sheehan was listed in stable condition at Providence Health Center in Waco. Brenda Mauk, a nursing supervisor, declined to release additional information.

Sheehan was hospitalized after friends picked her up Friday afternoon at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, where she arrived after spending several days in Seattle at the Veterans for Peace Convention, said friend Tiffany Burns.

Sheehan, who has been on a liquid diet as part of the nationwide "Troops Home Fast" hunger strike, had been treated and released from a Seattle emergency room Thursday night. On doctors orders, she ate for the first time in about 37 days, Burns said.

Sheehan was to spend Friday night in the Waco hospital but planned to attend some war protest activities Saturday at the 5-acre lot she bought last month in Crawford, President Bush's adopted hometown, about 20 miles from Waco.

9. Kudos to Cindy...
..she needs to go ahead and eat. bu$hit's sorry ass is not a good reason for her to sacrifice her health. Pushing it to the limit is OK but her body is telling her that's enough. She should have some food, lots of water while she goes about protesting the little McWeasel.

16. Don't you think that was rather mean?
Cindy is not Ghandi and maybe as you say, Ghandi might not have listened when told to eat by his doctor, but Cindy knows this country needs her! I'm happy that she is taking her doctors advice!

And BTW-DU is a place that should be supporting Cindy 100% I know I do!!!

Go Cindy! :applause:

sorry about that, I support cindy, she can be who she is, that's all right with me

With all due respect, I do wish Gandhi were still around. In many respects, I think Cindy' is a lot like him. Sorry it didn't come out like the compliment it should have been.

Edit: That's weird, I self deleted a full 14 minutes before your comment. That's just weird that you caught me.

23. I was interrupted by the family, the dog, the cat, everything...!
in the middle of posting a reply to you. That's why there is a 14 minute gap. :D

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. As a mom, I guess I just feel like I have to stand up for Cindy whenever I see something negative against her. I honestly do not know how she finds the courage and strength and energy to fight the fight she fights every day. Gandhi was of a different time and place so I just don't feel that it's fair to compare them, but I admire them both.

Wish I could go to Texas and be a better support for Cindy and the others there...yep, I'm not perfect either. Far from it, lol!

20. Ghandi was a different thing.
It worked in India back then because there was a lot of starvation of people because of circumstances. People understood it. Here it doesn't mean much, especially to "I thought you were going to talk about the pig" Bush. I hope she eats and concentrates her efforts on what she started out with.

17. I appreciate her anti-war efforts
But depriving oneself of nutrition (which could potentially kill a person) is not a wise way to protest. You need to be strong to face these bastards head-on.

I'll bet the freepers are having a field day over this one, evil f*cks that they are.

24. Dehydration can be scary.
And dangerous. Last summer I got very ill and couldn't stop vomiting. After just 3 days with no food or liquids I went nutso. I was hallucinating and could hardly walk unassisted. All my electrolytes were screwed up, including my potassium which got me a ticket to the ICU because my muscles were twitching and they wanted to make sure my heart stayed OK. I don't know how's she's done this and is still on her feet. I hope she listens to the docs - this can be very damaging or even worse. I hope she's listening to those looking out for her.
