Vote Republican! - So you'll feel safer!?!?
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 10:08 PM by taquinas101
I have not posted in a while but the almost gleeful Republican politicization of near tragedy is making me gag once again. The new talking points are that the discovery of the most recent terrorist plot is evidence that the Republicans are doing a better job of protecting our safety and security. Oh, I get it . . .

Vote Republican! Since I feel so safe, because since Bush has been elected:

1. 9/11 occurred.
2. We started a war with Iraq on false premises.
3. The war is still going on with friends and family in the military and there is no end in sight.
4. I can't take a freakin tube of tooth paste on an airplane.
5. My phone calls and e-mails may now be monitored by the government.
6. Journalist are now jailed in connection with the stories they write.
7. Government officials are prevented from speaking out about wrongdoing due to #5 and #6.
8. Our government actively facilitates torture.
9. I can depend on Homeland Security and FEMA in case of the next disaster.
10. I can be accused of treason for questioning the government's warrantless monitoring of my phone calls.

Yes, I feel so freakin safe and secure, since Bush has been elected. Gee, can you imagine 4 more years of this safety and security? Only the Chinese enjoy more safety and security then us, but don't worry, we're catching up.

3. The last time I felt comfortable and upbeat about my country was in 1998
and 1999...like things might finally become better. Then the nightmare began.

4. Great post! "I feel safer because I KNOW things will get worse under...

... "Wepubwicans" (a little Elmer Fuddesq I know, but don't forget Cheney's face shooting faux-pas a ways back).

If things getting worse under Wepubwicans is going to be a constant, we can at least plan for the future! Right?

I'm waiting for a member of the right wing freak show to actually argue this point with conviction. And... I won't be surprised when I hear it!

5. Well, I guess I can tell my children about the good ol'days...
when:

1. We were not in the middle of a freakin war.
2. We didn't jail journalists.
3. We could bring a bottle of Evian along with us on a plane flight.
4. Customer service spoke english without a heavy indian accent.
5. The government had to obtain a warrant before the monitored your phone calls.
6. People actually had a written ballot to prove that they did not vote Republican.
7. Glacier National Park actually had glaciers.
8. The government actually had a surplus.
9. When a middle class family could afford to own their own home.
10. When we did not have to work until we were 85 because we could count on a pension.

I could go on about the good ol' days, but heck I am too busy enjoying my sense of safety and security beneath the flashing orange alert signs.
