Israel is leaving rockets in Lebanon, for Hezbollah???
I found this, and it left me a bit flabbergasted:

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0608/06/rs.01.html

This paragraph:

"Tom Ricks, you've covered a number of military conflicts, including Iraq, as I just mentioned. Is civilian casualties increasingly going to be a major media issue? In conflicts where you don't have two standing armies shooting at each other? THOMAS RICKS, REPORTER, "THE WASHINGTON POST": I think it will be. But I think civilian casualties are also part of the battlefield play for both sides here. One of the things that is going on, according to some U.S. military analysts, is that Israel purposely has left pockets of Hezbollah rockets in Lebanon, because as long as they're being rocketed, they can continue to have a sort of moral equivalency in their operations in Lebanon."

I wonder who these military analysts are.

3. My sentiment exactly
These analysts remain mysterious and unnamed.
I am not a big fan of Israel's at this moment, but to sugest that this is the case is profoundly absurd.

2. Strange things happen when Leaders wants war
You cannot tell the troops that the other side are human beings.
You cannot get the support of the people for war when you call the other side human being.

You start to make reason for war.
You sacrifices your principle and start walking the route of seeing other side as evil.
Soon you believe it yourself.
And soon all these becomes reality.

That is what war is all about really.
We fight for the side of good against the evil we see.

Both side talk same thing.

7. Yes, you're absolutely right.
Especially with these neocons - they say up is down, black is white, war is peace, and the sheeple believe it.

8. He also backed off a bit a couple of days later.
Saying that "if it were the case" that the Israelis were doing this, his anonymous military consultants said, it would be a sound strategy to (etc., etc.).

However, this was picked up as fact in at least one English-language Arab newspaper.

10. Yes, indeed. Standard anti-semitic propaganda hearsay.
Is it any wonder that the rightwingers call us "moonbats" when DU allows this tinfoil-hat stuff to be posted?

13. Can you please stop saying that criticism of Israel is Anti-Semitism?
You should be smart enough to tell the difference.

11. A lot or war profiteers have a vested interest
in pumping up the superiority of all that high tech junk they have sold and want to continue to sell to the big armies.

12. Just as Hezbullah operates outside of the Lebanese goverment, there
well may be "PNAC" influenced maverick units ready to engage in a bit of mischeif.

Hopefully, UN or Nato forces will be rushed into the area.

19. This is akin to a guy who lost a fight saying "I let him hit me!"
The simple fact is that the Israelis thought they would bomb the shit out of Lebanon, turn opinion against Hezbollah, and then take out Hezbollah onh the ground. Only one of those things actually happened: they bombed the shit out of Lebanon. Opinion turned IN FAVOR of Hezbollah, and the well dug in and well prepared Hezbollah guerillas stood, fought, and handed the much vaunted Israeli infantry and special forces their asses in the ground war.

So now the excuses and ahems begin.

It's a humiliating spectacle, to be sure.
