America: Freedom To Fascism
Looks prettty good from the trailer:

Determined to find the law that requires American citizens to pay income tax, producer Aaron Russo (“The Rose,” “Trading Places”) set out on a journey to find the evidence. Neither left, nor right-wing this startling examination of government exposes the systematic erosion of civil liberties in America since 1913.

1. I think Hollywood failed us generally
Hollywood never took issue with this administration after 911, and never asked questions....in fact, they continue to collaborate with the pentagon after 911, and beyond. Hollywood is failing the American people by siding with the Pentagon, and using their logistic offering with multi-million dollar movies. This growing Hollywood & Pentagon relationship is dangerous to our nation.

2. It's called propaganda, baby.

The directors are acting like the late Leni Reifenstahl(sp). But, none of their films will equal the brilliance of the greatest propaganda film ever, "Triumph of the Will."

It also reminds me of the old Soviet b/w films with the singing tractor drivers. They would sing songs praising Stalin.

3. So explaining how American has gone from freedom to fascism
(in the documentarian's opinion) is the equivalent to Leni Riefenstahl's Nazi Propaganda. I'm a little confused.

4. I was talking about Hollywood in general failing us.
I wasn't talking about the documentary itself. I want to see it just like I did F911. Most documentaries are independently made.

5. Oh, okay, you meant to didn't mean to reply to the OP
you meant to reply to the poster above you. Gotcha.

Hollywood is a glitz and glamour factory. It is not a news outlet and there are no big hollywood documentaries. Hell, even Sundance is Hollywood these days. You definitely have to look towards indie film for truth. But indie films have no budgets and low production value, so they aren't going to get screen time.

I think Al Gore's movie was as close to big deal as we're going to get. Although I do think there's a market for big budget anti-Bush documentaries made by someone other than Michael Moore. I'd love to see more of those.

Actually, the closest we got to a response from Hollywood was V for Vendetta. That was Hollywood's version of a documentary on the times we live in.
