3. Dems up 52-48- and this is the worst local news channel in the US
i lived in Toledo for 3 years...this channel is horrible. 99% of the "news" is pre-packaged press releases. pitiful.

17. That's something that perplexes me, too...
But I don't think *any* president/party has a lock on security. Preventing terrorism is like trying to prevent a hurricane. Good luck. I don't blame Bush for 9/11 any more than I congratulate him on the lack of attacks here since then. He's quite beside the point.

19. Well I blame him
PDB of August 6, 2001 - tells the CIA briefer you've covered your ass and then goes fishing

How could you not blame him when he didn't even try to stop it - Bill Clinton's admin worked 24x7 to stop the Millenium attack - if Bush had even tried to stop them then maybe I wouldn't blame him but he and they did nothing....

My point is if someone is determined to attack, they (or clones) WILL
How would Bush have stopped the attacks we saw on 9/11 without bringing air travel to a halt and shortening all the buildings in the country? And when would he have decided it was okay to let planes take off again? When would towering buildings have seemed less like targets?

Yes, security can be beefed up, investigations can be launched, but a foiled plot in 2001 (if they'd gotten that lucky) would not have meant we were therefore safe. We will never be safe.

That's the nature of the human condition.

36. My point is HE DID NOTHING
I remember one day Randi Rhodes told a story that she was told by Janet Reno about how the Clinton administration acted when trying to stop the Millenium attack. Meetings all the time, assignments given to cabinet heads who had to report back the same day, many of them were actually at the White House at midnight New Year's Eve 1999/2000. Now some people claim that this effort had nothing to do with stopping the plot but that the agent who stopped the attackers got lucky. We'll never know for sure but my point is Clinton did something - he acted Presidential. Bush told the CIA briefer that he had covered his ass and then stayed in Crawford and went fishing - so yes I blame him. And the August 6th PDB was not the only warning -

And what could they have done to stop them - maybe exactly what the British did pay attention - investigate and arrest.....I personally think that 9/11 was the new Pearl Harbor mentioned in PNAC and they LIHOP
