Hey! Anybody here ever live in Austria? It looks like a nice

place to visit, or live. They ranked in the top three of "happiest" countries and are less corrupt than the U.S. according to another ranking. I'm curious. Do they encourage folks to move there?

1. I was born there

but I haven't lived there since 1959. My mother was just back in Vienna for a month and enjoyed it greatly.

but she was smuggled out in 1939, so my information might be a bit dated.

then again, looking at some of their modern leaders, i don't know....

6. Austria is breathtaking in its beauty.

It is an EXTREMELY conservative place. Joe Zawinul (Weather Report) and his manager of 30 years still "Sie" each other. I find the people cordial, formal and xenophobic. They also talk funny. :silly: I have the pleasure of being friends with some of the BEST people (imho) the country has ever produced. But THEY got out of Austria. It's a FABULOUS place to visit, but as a person with no blood ties, I wouldn't want to live there for an extended period of time.

7. I honeymooned in Innsbruck..Salzburg was very nice too. I'd go back

in a heartbeat.
