Yesterday I was crazy for not believing the Boy Who Cried Wolf.
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 08:47 AM by Beelzebud
Now today I read my morning paper, and read a few web pages, and it seems that

A: These "terrorists" didn't even have plane tickets to take any flights.
B: The Brits actually busted these guys LAST WEEK.
C: Our government and state-controlled news media only saw fit to report on it AFTER pro-war candidate Joe Lieberman LOST the primary.
D: Ari Fleicher and Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge have both ADMITTED to using terror threats for political purposes.

So with a useless media that has taken BRIBE money from this administration to run fake stories about health care, to a federal government that has had former employees ADMIT to using terror threats for politics, to political operative Karl Rove personally CALLING Joe Lieberman on the phone to express his support and offer to "help him out"; with all of those detals I get called a NUT by people who, by now, should know better than to trust ANYTHING they hear from this CRIMINAL GANG that is the military industrial complex (a.k.a our government and "free press").

That is all.

2. About D, somehow I missed that. If anyone has a link
to that I'd appreciate having it to add to my collection.

5. Old news. Tom Ridge expressly acknowledged it.
I know Ari mentioned it, too, but Ridge was the biggie.

Just total Bullshit. I am getting a little sick and tired of people thinking British Police give a rats ass about Joe Leiberman.

7. Ah, are you under the misaprehension that the British police control
our media? It's not about the plot - it is about the timing of the reporting of the plot.

Look at the headlines today. Anything, anything at all about the election where, for the first time in three decades, an incumbent has been ousted by a challanger in a primary? In any other news cycle, that would be big news.

Just as reporters embedded with the troops slant their stories to favor the troops, we have a corporate media that is embedded in the Republican administration.

If this group has been under surveillance for months, there are informers in the group, some arrests were made 10 days ago, and the threat was not imminent, why the timing of the reporting on it the day after the president is humiliated in the polls? Think maybe someone up the line said "what can we do? How about rolling up that airplane plot group? Would that help?" They could have been busted last week, or next week. Why did they choose yesterday?

4. B. isn't quite right. Certain individuals were arrested up to 10 days ago
but the 24 that were directly involved in the plot, who were preparing to board aircraft, were arrested yesterday morning.

6. I don't think "A" is relevant.
Since we don't even know when they were planning to dry-run or actually carry out their alleged plans.

10. I think it's relevant when you consider the fanfare given to the story
Wall-to-wall coverage on the "news" networks, and numerous announcers talking about the "terrorists who tried to blow up 10 planes today".

If these were plans for some day in the future, it sure hasn't been presented as such. And why is that? Bcause it's convenient to put the citizenry on to 'fear factor'.

11. That's not the way it was presented in Canada.
At least not that I heard.

Damn CBC.
