As of today, likely Missouri voters with questions about the new state law requiring a government-issued photo ID can call 1-888-99-VOTER.
That "hot line" has been set up by the Missouri Democratic Party, which says it wants to help would-be voters get the required ID - while the party continues its legal efforts to get the new law tossed out.
"Until this unpatriotic law is overturned, we will strive to ensure that as little harm as possible is done," said state Democratic Party Chairman Roger Wilson, a former governor, at a news conference Thursday at the Old Courthouse downtown.
A spokesman for the state Republican Party, which backs the law, said the party welcomed the Democrats' help - but objected tto he continued court fight.
