Liquid Bombs? Hasn't anybody seen Die Hard 3?
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 01:30 AM by Blue_State_Elitist
Whoever Bushco and poodle Blair hired to come up with this story should be sued for plagiarism. The liquid bomb scare idea has been around since at least 1995 when Bruce Willis and Samuel L ran around New York city diffusing them.

1. Nobody who's willing to admit it...
Die Hard was great, DH II was ridiculous, and I don't know anyone who saw DH III. Regardless, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain (unless you want the terraists to win).

2. I thought Die Hard 3 was great.
Mostly because of Samuel Jackson and Jeremy Irons. Then again, Godfather 2 was my least favorite of them all, so you probably shouldn't trust me when it comes to movies :)

5. Oh, you want to see bad! Did you ever see the "Special Addition"...
...I think they called it "Godfather: The Epic," thankfully, it seems to NOT be available on DVD:

I saw it years ago, they took Godfather 1 and Godfather 2 and recut them so that the storie happens in cronalogical order. In other words, no more flash backs in Godfather 2! They put the De Niro parts BEFORE the Brando parts of the Original!

I couldn't believe it, but I think it might have even been Coppola who did it!

8. Godfather 2 was your least favorite?
:wow:

I thought part 3 was the worst... just my two cents. :-)

9. Most people I've met hated 3...
I didn't mind it that much - although I secretly cheered when Sophia Copolla was shot. That woman cannot act her way out of a wet paper bag.

For my money though, I really enjoyed the more "grizzled" Al Pacino.

11. yeah, Sophia Copolla is a lousy actor, but a promising director
IMO.

"The Virgin Suicides" and "Lost in Translation" were both excellent films, IMO.

Beyond that, I thought the story was weaker and more 'hollywood' than parts 1 and 2, which I think are both well done. Also, I'm not a big fan of Andy Garcia. ;-)

12. I agree.
I really enjoyed Lost in Translation. It's been a while since I've seen The Virgin Suicides, but from what I can remember it was fairly interesting.

And yeah, if Andy Garcia never makes another movie, I won't be too broken up. :)

4. The author is dead, I'm afraid, This is almost the exact same plot...
... Mohammad Atta helped plan and the one the Clinton Justice Department found a foiled back about 1995, when they were going to blow up jets over the Pacific Ocean.

They said on the radio today that those were to be "liquid bombs" too.

7. Yup, but where I heard it from was former Indiana Dem Rep Tim Roemer...
...in an interview on NPR's "All Things Considered" today:

<http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5635101>

Is the Government Capable of Tracking Terrorists?

Listen to this story... by Melissa Block

All Things Considered, August 10, 2006 ·
President Bush says the country is safer today than it was before Sept. 11.
Timothy Roemer, former member of the 9/11 Commission and former Democratic
congressman from Indiana, disagrees. Citing the tenacity and innovation of
today's militant groups, he wonders whether the Department of Homeland Security
is nimble and dynamic enough to track future threats.

Btw, I find it funny that * says we are safer than we were before 9/11, Well, that's not really saying much, as we weren't very safe on September 10, 2001.
