3. Here it is:
1 1/2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce Triple Sec
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
Ice cubes
Superfine sugar for dipping
Twisted peel of lemon

Mix the vodka, Triple Sec, sugar, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice; shake well (supposedly the cocktail is to be shaken 40 times to make sure the sugar is well blended). Pour strained liquor into sugar-rimmed martini glass and garnish with a twisted peel of lemon.

NOTE: To create a sugar-rimmed glass, take a lemon wedge and rub the drinking surface of the glass so it is barely moist. Dip the edge of the glass into sugar.

Makes 1 serving.

9. OK- here's another version (Triple-Sec free)
http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink4797.html

it's deeee-licious (I substitute Grand Marnier for Cointreau) Go heavy on the lemon-- 1 whole per serving:

Lemon Drop #6 recipe

Scale ingredients to servings
1 1/2 shots Absolut® vodka
1 1/2 shots Cointreau® orange liqueur
1 lemon wedge
ice
sugar

Put the vodka and cointreau into a shaker. Squeeze the lemon juice into the shaker. Put a good amount of ice in the shaker, close and shake until cold.

Moisten the rim of a cocktail glass and then dip the rim in the sugar. Strain the contents of the shaker into the glass. Garnish with lemon zest for a decorative touch.

10. From New York? They also need this recipe for terror!
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 06:14 PM by longship

The Perfect Manhattan

For each serving:
3 oz of Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon
1 oz of a *good* Rosso Vermouth (aka sweet Vermouth)
2 dashes of Angostura Bitters (manditory)
1 Maraschino cherry (must have stem)
Stemmed Martini glass (chilled)

Take a large glass with ~6 ice cubes (*NOT* crushed)
Pour in liquid ingredients.
Stir *gently* (or swirl with circular motion) for a good 20 seconds.
***Do not shake***

Strain into chilled Martini glass.
Add stemmed maraschino cherry.

Serve.
Drink.
Relax. All the terror will disappear shortly.

Warning: This is a large double. Any more than two of these and you're going to get bombed. Hence, the terror threat.

Tip: Chilling the martini glass is easy. Before you start, put in just a single shot of water and four ice cubes into each glass so that the cubes rest against the sides of the glass. By the time you are finished, the glasses should all be suitably chilled. Just dump the ice and water and pour in the Manhattan. Don't worry, a few drops of water won't hurt this drink.
