Rachel Maddow rules.
I heard her for the first time this morning since Morning Sedition was cancelled. I've never heard something as complicated as the terror plot news explained as smoothly and clearly as Maddow explained it this morning. It was a flawless performance, matching the kind of prose only the best very print journalists can muster--and she did this extemporaneously, in a steady flow of pitch perfect prose! I'm extremely impressed.

And then she turned on a dime and was freakin' hilarious and right on conversing with Jane Hamsher about Joe Lieberman and Mike Allen's constipated take on it.

Hooray for Rachel Maddow! :toast:

2. I've loved Rachel Maddow since the good old days of......
Unfiltered. It nauseates me that they bumped her out of the 9 to noon spot and chose Jerry Springer as a replacement. And damn, I miss Morning Sedition.

3. Yes, she does. I like her as much as anyone on AAR.
I wish they would have her on longer in the morning. Springer is pretty useless from 9-11.

4. He's AAR's version of Alan Colmes.

6. when do the rest of you hear Rachel's show?
Here she's on from 10 to noon. The radio station likes to play up her local connections, since she used to do the morning show for one of this area's FM stations before she went to AAR.

7. Where are you?
She's the early morning person here in NYC. I was listening to her just before her show ended at 9:00.

14. western massachusetts
WHMP 1400 has a mix of local progressive talk and AAR content all day. They have a local guy from 6 to 10, Rachel Maddow from 10 to noon, then Thom Hartmann, Randi Rhodes, Al Franken, and the Majority Report in the afternoon and evening.

15. I used to live in that area way back in the early 1980s
in three addresses in Northampton and one in Amherst.

Rachel at the gym in the early evening.

8. She's quite accomplished.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rachel_Maddow

Rhodes Scholar, doctorate in politics.

And I was surprised to learn she's a lesbian.

I've listened to her a lot and I've never heard her even hint at that. To me, that's cool, because I listen to her for political reasons and sometimes gay-lesbian issues cloud things up, at least for me.

11. Rachel does rule!
I totally agree: She has a gift for explaining complicated issues in the most understandable (and entertaining) terms. Rachel seems to really have grown comfortable in her role and is hitting her "radio host" stride!

She is hot! And I'm a married gal with two kids! :9

13. I'm not anywhere near as honey-tongued as Rachel is.
What most impressed me was her skillful recap of the Chertoff announcement that had just occurred, and her seamless tying it in with information from other sources, like the BBC, I'm guessing, and hitting every key point about what was known at that moment. And all this was done with quickly tossed off "winks" in her tone, which did all the work necessary to remind listeners that her sources were official and, thus, to be taken with a grain of salt.
