On Larry King tonite, Randi Rhodes said he called Mohammad a raghead. Boortz denied it. He said if he did, he would give AAR $5000.

"Raghead" is a derogatory word for Muslims referring to their headdress; "ragpicker" is a word referring to paupers who scavenge for rags hoping to find something of worth in the trash. I think the choice of words was intentional on Boortz's part. He knows full well that the derogatory connotations of the first word are transferred to the second while leaving him able to deny using bigotted slurs.

Randi is hearing the connotation and tone of the word "raghead," as Boortz intended his readers to do, rather than hearing the strict dictionary definition of the word "ragpicker." It is a sneaky piece of work on Boortz's part. He is a propagandist in every sense of the word.
