Mayor backs Lieberman's independent bid (Bloomberg)
Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Wednesday that, if asked, he would campaign for Sen. Joseph Lieberman in his independent bid to stay in the Senate.

The mayor also reiterated his wish to bring nonpartisan elections to New York City.

Bloomberg said that Lieberman -- who was edged out in Tuesday's Democratic primary by challenger Ned Lamont -- was effective and outspoken and should be sent back to Washington by voters in November.

"I would urge them all to return Joe Lieberman to the Senate where he can do a lot of things for this country and do a lot of things for the people of Connecticut," Bloomberg said. "And I plan to support him if he wants that help."

6. Using your words, Mayor, we could urge you
to keep yourself to the daunting task of running YOUR (awesome, of course--I <3 NY!) enormous, unique city. And stay out of Connecticut's business.

Cordially,

A transplanted Nutmegger,
