Who else is tired of being lied to?
by the people who have been selected for offices, whether national state or local.

I am damn tired of it.

Politicians are not my mommies or daddies. I don't rely upon them to make me feel safe. I rely upon them to take care of the nation, the states and the localities.

I don't like being "spun", whether by a worthless politician or my mommy.

Are you tired of this mind control shit?

4. I got pretty upset with my parents lying to me to
"protect me from the truth". I feel the same way about my elected officials doing the same thing. No one but me is going to make me feel safe and the best thing they can do is be open about what is going on so I can best plan what is best for me and my fellows.

5. You might want to go into hibernation for the next two months
Because I fully expect the Repukes and the MSM to amp up the lies further than they ever have. It's going to be really ugly.

7. I believe you are correct
I see it happening every election cycle now. The elected dems try to preserve their positions by not challenging the fascists until the election cycle comes around again. Then, some say what they think you want to hear, but you can tell, as another poster said, they are transparent.

I don't trust anyone anymore unless their name is Dean or Kucinich.

I can't believe the propaganda they spew. When will OBL's head pop up on my tv next?

What a fake world we live in.

6. Well, yes, as a matter of fact I am.
I'm a Mom and I don't lie or spin things for my kids. I've told my kids to picture republicans as chickenshits who are scared of their own shadows, pissin' themselves in the corner of a closet, and pissin' on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights in particular, just because they're afraid.

Just give me the facts and I'll make up my own mind thank you very much.

10. Very tired, but what I find even more sickening...

...is when the liars don't even bother to make their lies plausible or consistent. It's as if they hold us in such utter contempt that any old lie will do. They're not going to waste valuable brain cycles coming up with a good lie, so they just reheat some old bullshit and dish it out.

Someone wrote a book a few years ago called something like "Your Call Is Important To Us: How Bullshit Took Over the World." In it, the author makes the point that the modern species of bullshitter is worse than a liar. A liar, at least, has respect for the truth. In fact, they respect and fear the truth so much, they'll go to great lengths to stop other people from discovering it. Bullshitters couldn't care less about the truth or the person to whom they're dispensing the bullshit. Just like the 'your call is important to us' prerecorded crap you get on every automated phone system, political bullshitters don't give a damn if you believe them, they just want you to fuck off.

We've been softened up for the age of bullshit by hollow corporate pretention toward caring about us, ubiquitous 'have a nice day'ism, false smiles and ersatz cheeriness from all corners. We sit on phones for hours while machines tell us how much we mean to them, which is nice because the people who programmed the machines clearly don't give a shit.

It's inevitable, therefore, that political rhetoric should borrow from the corporate world and spew their own version of 'your call is important to us,' in the form of empty assurances of security, freedom, family, justice, wealth and happiness. It's all bullshit and of no more value than a prerecorded phone voice.

13. I'm a Democrat from the anti-corruption, open-government wing of the party
and I want a leader who RESPECTS the CITIZENS enough to share the truth and will open the books so they can know what their government has been doing in their name and with their tax dollars over the last 4 decades.
