To any of you who are reading/posting on DU, please please please do us all a favor and immediately take control of the spin the Republicans are putting on the Lieberman/Lamont situation!! If you let the Republicans win on this one too, you'll start a landslide that will continue to November 7. I'm sick and tired of missed opportunities and watching the party sit on its hands instead of acting! I implore you to do something. NOW. Fight fire with fire, get out there, and set the record straight!!!!!!!!

2. When they get on air, they get spun. Dean is on twice in the morning.

The last time all they did was interrupt him and insult him when he was on those two morning shows.

Wake-up to Governor Dean tomorrow morning and make sure to catch these TV apprearances:

- ABC "Good Morning America" at 7:05 AM
- CNN "American Morning" at 7:30 AM

The media is spinning for Joe, and I don't see that changing anymore than Wolf will change his ways.

Since I'm walking door to door and talking to a lot of voters, I'll do my best to get my own talking points straight about this, at the grassroots level. I'll be out tomorrow evening and Sunday afternoon. I expect I'll get some fall out over this.

But, see, I don't think that's a good excuse. I'm in PR and I don't quit. If I'm getting spun in one media outlet, I move to another. And another. And another. I don't just give up. I think we give up too much, too often. It's the one thing I "admire" about the GOP - they won't give up. So, if we do, we're letting them win. Yes, it's frustrating and doesn't happen easily - but if you dig in there and keep at it, you will get the results you want.

5. I've just been thinking that we have got to do a major letter

writing campaign to the media. I remember reading that the Republicans have at least 6000 people who go to work immediately writing letters and calling the news shows and complaining about anything they do not like. There are certainly enough of us here to do the same thing.

OK, I'll help - how do we organize that here?

13. OK, first we need a list of media email and snail mail addys and

phone numbers. We can post it on one of the current Topic Forums if its ok with the administrators.

Then we will need several short stock letters that DUers can cut and paste onto email forms or that they can use as scripts for telephone calls. We need to post a request for some of our better writers to help us craft the letters in a concise manner. Other letter writers can compose their own letters if they prefer.

We need to hit these radio and tv stations with such a flood of letters and phone calls that they cannot ignore us. Remember how they acted when enough Americans had a fit about the Dubais port ownership?

If they get enough letters they will HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION. And it is not a one-time deal! We have to do it and do it and do it ad nauseum. That's how the Repubs and Christian Coalition etc got to the point they are today.

We need to email copies of the letters and contact addys to our family and friends if they are Democrats and get their help on this also. I know lots of people who are good Dems but they do not belong to DU, yet they are always interested in what I tell them about our discussions, etc.

We have got to flood them with mail and phone calls instead of just sitting here moaning about what can we do?

Right now, I am going to try to find a site that lists media contacts. I know that there are some because I used to have one bookmarked on my old computer.

In the meantime, I wish that someone would write an inital letter stating our premise to vote as we choose as free Americans and perhaps addressing some of these other points that they are accusing us of. I would try to write it, but I would probably get a little too personal toward people like Limbaugh and end up ranting. But if no one else will write it, I will try.

Maybe you could post a separate thread about this project while I try to find the contact numbers.
I'm sure we will find some DUers who will help as well as some who will pooh-pooh the idea. But nothing beats a try but a failure.

Lamont and asked him if he would post a permanent media contact list for us. He referred me to one immediately. It is in the Research Forum.

Now we need to get a couple of good, short letters that we can cut and paste onto email forms and do some mass emailing to the major stations that are guilty of these biased attacks on Democratic voters.

Is there some way to put together these good short letters with just the right points? Things like, "It isn't the radical left that wants to get out of Iraq, it's 60% of the American public." It would also help to have links.

18. Nikki, those are great ideas. I just posted a couple requests on

GD, GD Politics and on the Activist Forum asking for letter writers and so far I have gotten about 11 affirmative replies.

If you are willing to write a letter, maybe 250 words or less, but don't limit yourself if it needs to be longer with the idea you have posted here.

Then if you pm me, you and I can set up a post with your letter and several email addys that we will focus on. We will ask DUers to copy, cut and paste it on email forms and send out several to the major stations.

What do you think about also sending messages of support to the Dems re: getting out there and setting the record straight?
