"The message asking for supportive comments was signed by Terrie James, who appeared on several of Ken Lay's calendar entries that were entered into evidence in court, and Beth Stier, who runs Innovision Communications, the video production company that produced some of Enron's in-house videos, including the one in which an employee asked Lay if he was on crack. Stier's video library was a popular resource for defense attorneys in the Enron broadband trial."

Just when you think they can't go any lower...

"Dear Enron Friends,
We trust this note finds you happy and healthy and hope that it will serve as a way for us to reconnect with you. We'd love to know how and what you are doing.
Since Enron's bankruptcy, we have heard many former-Enron employees say that their experience at Enron was one that they "wouldn't trade for anything". Despite the post-mortems that the media has written, many of us who were there still believe that Enron was, indeed, a spectacular company and that our lives have been enriched because we had the privilege to work with such a unique collection of America's best and brightest - a collection which Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling assembled.
As those closest to Enron, our opinions regarding the verdict against Ken and Jeff vary greatly. Some support the guilty verdict, some are indifferent to it, and some believe it is a travesty. Despite our differing opinions, we probably all agree that what has happened to Enron and what is happening to so many people we know and admired is tragic. While we have moved on to new and fulfilling personal and professional ventures, we continue to feel heartsick for those who were hurt by Enron, including Ken and Jeff and their families. It is out of compassion for them that we make this appeal.
Tragically, Ken is gone and soon, Jeff will be going to prison, most likely for the rest of his life. Because we feel such sympathy for what they and their families are going through, we want to do something that could help ease their pain in some small way during this time. So, we are putting together a collection of letters for Jeff and a separate collection of letters for Ken's family - letters from former Enron employees. We hope that these letters will let Ken's family and Jeff know that Enron did impact people's lives in a positive way."

"We ask that you send the letters no later than Monday, August 21st..."

"We are sincerely thankful for your compassion,
Terrie James and Beth Stier"
